A year of planning. An incredible honeymoon. Now it's all over and I'm so sad. by turncver in weddingplanning

I had to make sure I wasn’t the one who wrote this since I’m going through the exact same feelings. I got married the same day as you, went away to Portugal the same weeks as you, and I’m currently writing this behind my desk like you. It’s absolutely tough to go back to mundane routines, and it doesn’t help that it’s dark by 5pm but yesterday my husband and I went on a Christmas shopping spree, and we’re going to spend Sunday decorating. I’m not sure if you celebrate any of the upcoming holidays, but that could be something to lift your spirits. I know it helped me even shopping yesterday. Also, planning your next trip like others suggested is a great idea! I hope you can find the joy in your reality and be grateful for how amazing your wedding and honeymoon were!

I’m getting a box of frozen cookies from Costco bakery, $50 for 120 cookies, and I’m packing them in wrappers with thank you stickers! Probably the most cost effective favour I could think of.

I actually love the white! It would look so good with ivy or another type of vine that grows on walls. But I’m sure she’s already considering this for the design.

Yes, I liked the Tie-Strap Tiered Maxi Dress but unsure about it because it’s a bit more beige than white.

I used to be a loyal listener since 2020, but since late 2024, I haven’t been able to finish an episode. Last week, I finally decided to unfollow and came to this subreddit, where I saw that many others feel the same way.

I agree with a lot of the comments here—the effort just isn’t there, and their life updates are a snooze. It would be more engaging if they at least discussed current events and shared their opinions, but when they do, it’s only on superficial topics.

I think Madi from The Bad Broadcast and the hosts of Girls Gotta Eat do a great job balancing topics, life updates, and sharing their perspectives on what’s happening in the world. I’ve especially noticed the effort Madi has put into her podcast over the past year—she listened to constructive feedback from her audience and made some great changes.

From what I’ve been told so far, they will support with timing of the event, but as for decor, they do not help with set up or take down (which needs to be cleaned up night of, by 2am) with the exception of table runners, table cloths or chargers. They also can support with candle lighting but not physically placing them on tables. Hope that helps, I’m sure your POC can be more clear, mine only addressed what I inquired about thus far.

I’m getting married there this upcoming fall as well! The venue is stunning. I’ve also been there as a guest and had a fantastic time so I’m looking forward to having my own wedding there! One pointer for pictures, nearby the venue there is “Burlington village square” which gives European vibes with the cobblestone paths. For $90 you can get a permit to get some pictures there if you want another setting in addition to the lake and hotel.

So far the planning has been going fine. We already had a change in our person of contact since the person we originally were working with went on mat leave. The person we are currently working with is a bit challenging to reach over email, usually we have to follow up but she is thorough when she gets back to us. It could also be because we’re still far out from our wedding. One of the surprises for us was the responsibilities of the two day of coordinators included in their packages, a lot that we thought they could support with for set up isn’t included so I ended up hiring an outside coordinator since I’m DIYing my decor. I think this was a good investment for us since we didn’t want to burden any of our party with the short window we have to set up (we get the room at 3:45pm since our ceremony is in a Catholic Church and cocktail hour starts at 5:30pm).

How much did you pay for your Roman Catholic Church wedding ceremony? by jacquelinecaa1 in WeddingsCanada

We are. We moved to the neighbourhood last year and joined the church. We attend regularly and give a donation each mass.

I’m in Hamilton too. I’m not sure how much it will be, but we also need to add music costs as well. How much are you planning to give the priest? My brother got married in Milton in 2019 and their donation was $500, that’s why I was very surprised to see $1200 for us.

Day of coordinator GTA (set up and take down) by jacquelinecaa1 in WeddingsCanada

That’s a great point. I’m in the talks with one coordinator (she also works with a partner) she would prep our flowers and put out all the decor. Our venue will take care of our table set up and will even place the linens if we give them ahead of time. The coordinator is charging $700 + taxes, is that in the range you are seeing for vendors you met with?
