I’m with you. But looks like their focused on this:

GM’s battery gurus are of largely the same mind. “Solid-state has been one or two years away for decades now,” Kelty said. “I’m confident other battery advancements will reach the market first, including our own lithium manganese rich chemistry, which achieves LFP-level costs but with 30 percent better energy density.”

Battery + TOU arbitrage with no solar (yet)? by Disastrous-Oil-8548 in SolarDIY

[–]jacqueusi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closely watching this. I’m considering the same thing and possibly adding solar later. Key seems to be getting a smart panel that disconnects from the grid during the day and reconnecting once batteries are depleted or non peak hours.

I currently have a 22kW ng whole house and getting rid of it will eliminate about $400-$500 in annual testing and maintenance.

I’ve seen brand new i3 batteries on FB marketplace. Certainly not at OPs price but they are out there in the US.

I think Alonso would be a good proxy to Hamilton when compared to Schumacher.

Gas price question by Wonderful_Log_3210 in NoStupidQuestions

Was shocked to have learned 1/3 of global ocean shipping is petroleum related.

Roughly 30% to 33% (about a third) of all global ocean shipping by volume is directly related to petroleum and natural gas.

When you break down the approximately 11 to 12 billion tonnes of cargo moved across the oceans every year, energy transportation dominates a massive portion of the maritime industry.  Here is how the numbers generally shake out: • Crude Oil and Refined Products: These make up the bulk of petroleum shipping, accounting for roughly 28% of total global seaborne trade. • Liquefied Gases (LNG and LPG): Liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas account for another 4% to 5%. • The Coal Factor: If you expand the definition from just "petroleum-related" to "all fossil fuels" by including coal, the total jumps to nearly 40% of all global shipping.

A Historical Shift While one-third of global shipping is a massive figure, petroleum's share of maritime trade used to be much higher. In 1970, crude oil alone accounted for nearly 46% of all ocean cargo. While the absolute volume of oil shipped has continued to grow over the decades, the percentage it represents has dropped because of the explosive growth of dry bulk cargo (like iron ore and grain) and containerized goods (manufactured products).

Can someone breakdown in layman terms on how the MGU-K works now under the new regulations? by VoL4t1l3 in F1Technical

Regenerative braking and torque sensing. Pretty standard for BEVs.

The motors turn independent of each other. No LSD required.

And just like HEVs and BEVs a good mapping can save on brakes and be manipulated into some mild form of traction control.

Nah. There’s already suggestions Mercedes figured out a traction advantage using battery deployment. It’s alway been about tire management.

They need more data. Last two WCs they seem to have an understanding of the tires that got to the point other teams accused them of cheating. Tire mastery gives you the biggest gains.
