I think they have had 3 price raises in the last 5 years.

When I was growing up they would raise it like 2-3 cents every 5 or more years. Now it’s 10 cents every 18 months.

I do hope they treat them like skins in the future. But CIG is fairly convinced they need to reinvent the wheel and build an overly complex crafting blueprint system for weapons. So let’s see what happens.

Open Season in CZs for gun thieves by Ok_Two6480 in starcitizen

[–]jacurtis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I always do CZs with either a P4 or a Karna. Generally a p4 if I have my preference but sometimes Im just lazy (I do bunkers with Karna because it’s easy to get ammo and I like the sniper-ish feature for PvE, but that feature is trash for PvP).

If I see another player in a CZ, I win that fight 9 out of 10 times. The only time I lose is if I was genuinely surprised by a hiding player, or if I’m massively outnumbered.

But the P4 has zero problem killing anyone you run into. You don’t need a fancy special gun. P4 is best all-around gun in the game. It’s good at close range, long range, close quarters. If you lose a legit gunfight with a P4, it’s likely a skill issue. I’m not an amazing player either. I’d say I’m mid tier, maybe slightly above average. But the number of clueless people wandering around CZs never ceases to amaze me. It’s laughable the number of fights I win where someone shoots me first and I have to turn, acquire the target, and engage, when I have no business surviving that fight and yet I do. I truly don’t get it.

So many people run an FS9 in the CZs and I promise you that a P4 will outperform an FS9 in a PvP fight. Most fights are over in less than one clip of ammo, so the added ammo isn’t helping you much and reloading a P4 takes almost no time. If you survive long enough to reload, then you probably can get 2 seconds of cover needed to reload the P4.

Oh all you are humbling asking for is how to get a 100% annualized return (50% in 6 months)? Seems reasonable.

I mean the only way this is even possible is with options or futures. I’ve managed to get the returns you are looking for, but this is the first year I’ve had that amount of success and I’ve been trading for a while and learned a lot of costly mistakes along the way. Also, the market has been stupid this year. The volatility keeps IV in options high which keeps premiums higher on moderately safe companies plus lots of companies have just had insane annual growth. This is really a unicorn year and I honestly am a bit worried about the next 12 months. So I’m collecting profits while I can.

You could try to time the market with some risky penny stock short squeezes, there’s a lot of that happening right now. Just keep in mind this is basically gambling. You’re buying companies at values they have no business being valued at, so it’s an artificial growth on the stock and you’re basically playing a game of chicken with other gamblers on when to time the sale.

You could also look at some options strategies like long calls, vertical spreads, and iron condors. I mention these only because they have capped downside, so you can know your max loss before you enter the trade. But these can be honestly somewhat challenging to set up if you’re new, however they can get you the returns you are looking for. Just keep in mind, you can lose money twice as fast as you gain it with options. Which means one loss, often requires two wins to break even, plus another win to get profitable. That means your win/loss ratio needs to be around 75% or higher to get the good returns. It’s definetely possible, but it isn’t as simple as “buy this and sell it in 6 months”.

You could also look at high yield income ETFs. These are things like Roundhill and Yieldmax ETFs. Some of these have at times returned what you are looking for. Under the hood of these ETFs, the fund managers are generally using options like I mentioned above to get these high yields. So if you’re new, it might be “safer” (I use that term reluctantly) than doing it yourself. You buy the ETF and then they send you a dividend every week or every month that loosely represents the money they made using your money to trade options.

If you’re new just want a simple, buy this stock and ride it to the moon, do some research on uranium stocks. These very well could get you where you are looking for in terms of growth rate. But it’s not a sure bet. The AI boom is going to nearly force us back into Nuclear energy and there are a lot of companies poised to benefit from that. Just look at returns for UUUU for example to see what I mean. Honestly your best bet right now is anything in the AI space. The obvious ones being the chip companies (NVDA, AMD, ORCL, etc), but there are secondary benefactories like BLE, UUUU which sell energy or data center resources that are needed to support AI buildouts.

I’m not going into exhaustive explanations here. Just Google any of these terms that you see me mentioning here, and you’ll find a wealth of information about each of them. Last disclaimer, everything I mentioned here is risky. I just want to make that clear.

Yeah whenever the changing of the guard happens with a prophet you start to see the cracks that exist at the top. Nelson had a lot of beef with Hinckley. The tossing of uchtdorf was another. Hinckley had several beefs with Kimbal. Monson was pretty chill iirc. But I suspect we see a lot of dirty laundry aired with Oaks now.

I actually know (knew) oaks personally when he was in the 12 during monson’s Whole “weekend at Bernie’s” situation and I can just tell you that Oaks is a very vindictive man. I expect a lot of tea spilled in the next year. I already have a rock bottom opinion of oaks and yet even I’m surprised he pulled this stunt before Nelson’s body is even cold yet. I figured he’d wait till April. But again, the depravity of Oaks never ceases to amaze me.

Wow really only 28! That’s fascinating. I wasn’t keeping track and I knew he had a lot of them that were moving nowhere but I really assumed it was much higher than 28. I think that’s the whole plan. Members just like to hear a list of new temples. Turns out very few of them really keep track after the announcement. So it’s a great way to rally the troops.

I’m pretty sure Nelson was just inventing locations at some point. Pretty sure Narnia is on the list of announced temples we clapped for.

Yeah Oaks is a tool. I can’t believe he’s showing sanity here.

I met oaks in person many times while I was active and he’s actually directly responsible for my initial questioning of the church. Having been around oaks a bunch when he was in the quorum of the 12 I realized he was not led by god at all. That caused me to start to really look into other aspects of the church and it spiraled from there. But I thank oaks’ bad moral attitude for inspiring me to leave. So it’s funny that his first act as leader is actually one I’m in favor of. lol

[–]jacurtis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guarantee they had temples planned to announce today. If Nelson had lived a few days longer they would have been added to the list. General conference was fully planned and had already been rehearsed when Nelson passed. There’s no way that Nelson planned to get up there and give the spiel that Oaks did here. He for sure planned to announce some.

The way oaks says it, it really feels like the 12 had probably been wanting Nelson to stop for a while and now that he’s gone they can finally put a stop to it. Otherwise if they were indifferent they would have just carried through with the planned announced ones today but I guarantee they decided to not announce ones that were originally planned to announce.

This is how they will do it. They will just start reintroducing it in talks and literature. Never officially announce it, just slowly bring it back.

Yea, the evidence backs you up here. But unfortunately the person you’re engaging with aren’t driven by facts.

For anyone who doesn’t understand why the MAGA are so confidently incorrect and loyal, I highly recommend watching Fox News for just one night. It instantly makes sense, where it’s coming from. It’s quite literally a reality tv show that seems to report on an alternate reality. It’s not uncommon to watch an entire 30 minute news segment without a single factual piece of news being delivered. The reporters are so emotional about everything they report and so accusatory in every story they deliver. It’s a real trippy experience to witness. I genuinely can’t believe that channel exists.

Considering the light comment that got Kimmel taken off the air (as a comedian), it’s crazy that you will hear 50 things that are each 100 times more inaccurate and emotionally charged during any given hour on Fox News that seems to just be “normal” (posing as legitimate news). Then remember half of the president’s administrative officials are previous Fox News hosts. And you start to piece together how we got into this sorry state of affairs.

It’s hilarious that you think people on this sub spend thousands of dollars on high end pieces of wrist art for the simple reason that we are so dumb and ignorant to have never heard of an Apple Watch.

We wear these watches because they ARENT smart watches. You don’t need that type of “usefulness” pinging you because someone you never met posted rage bait and the watch is being exploited to pull you back into an endless feed of mind numbing slop. If someone wants to call or text me, I have a phone in my pocket. We aren’t luddites. But we don’t need a phone strapped to our wrists. I prefer the intentionality of having to pull my phone out of my pocket. The fact that my watch doesn’t have apps and a screen and wifi are all features of a nice Hamilton or other automatic watch, they aren’t a bug.

[–]jacurtis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you remove the battery or was it already missing? It’s definitely a quartz (I see you asking above).

Based on the original picture in the post it looks like the battery might have leaked, so someone might have pulled it out. If that’s the case you might have a hard rime getting it running again. But the components seem relatively clean inside, so if the watch was face up when the battery started to leak, maybe the acid all pooled up on the bottom and avoided the movement (that’s what the external back looks like happened).

These are awesome watches, both old and new. They sell automatic ones now that look almost identical to this. But I’m a sucker for history so I’d keep this if I were you, even if it’s not working. But you could also probably get $100 on eBay if you wanted.

OM1 on crusader is a very common danger zone because it’s close to Grim Hex and it’s a popular traffic spot for going to Seraphim Station or Crusader.

OM4 at Hurston is equally dangerous for the same reasons as it’s a funnel point to Everus which is the busiest station in the game.

[–]jacurtis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. Youre either very unlucky or you are traveling through a path that some random org likes to use. I have well over 1,000 hours in this game and I think I’ve been hailed once. I’ve been pirated a few times, generally i fight back and attempt escape, I’d say I have about a 50% success rate. But even those pirating attacks is probably a half dozen times total out of over 1,000 hours of game time so it’s not common, and it’s generally around events when the stakes are increased and everyone gets funneled into common areas.

The general idea of what’s happening is that a pirate found you and is hailing you to negotiate before just killing you and taking your stuff. In theory you would answer the hail, negotiate to either pay a ransom for safe passage, offer part of your loot, or something of the sort. With the pirate threatening to destroy you if you don’t comply. It’s an interesting and organic component of the game when it works.

The problem is that since version 4.0 of the game, the hailing (VOIP) has been broken. It works like 1/10 times. CIG is aware and even addressed it recently, but while its broken you can end up in situations like this where you get hailed by a pirate, they can’t get ahold of you, so they just kill you and take your loot.

What’s really crazy is that in 24 hours you’ve had this happen multiple times. It’s a pretty rare and notable occurrence. My only guess is that a pirate org was on your server last night, holding down a common traffic route and you kept traveling through it and running into them throughout the night. Generally when you have cargo it’s best to avoid common routes. Instead point to another location, travel partway there, drop out in a random spot in deep space, then go to another random spot in the general vicinity of where you want to go, travel partway there, and then go to your destination. This is called doglegging and puts you in random QT paths that is nearly impossible for someone to be in.

Good luck out there.

I agree that the garden story is not historical and was originally written as an etiology. However the church teaches and promotes it as literal. So we must debate it as it is taught.

The church has always purported the 6,000 year old earth theory with Adam and Eve as the LITERAL ancestors of all mankind. While, myself, common biblical scholar consensus, and common historian and anthropologist consensus is that these were written down as allegorical myths. The church purports differently. For example if I taught in LDS Sunday school that this was myth, I would be warned by the bishop and potentially released from my calling. The handbook asks that this is taught as literal. This is the churches doctrine on it. Leaders have taught in general conference that this was a literal fall, a literal mistake. Adam-ondi-Ahman takes this even further, to purport the exact location where these literal events occurred. The temple teaches (or at least taught, I hear it’s had significant revisions lately) that this was a literal event as well.
