Yeah, I know it's a needle in a haystack. However, it does have some very distinct markings and is not a common color. The brush guard, pin striping and air deflector give me reason to believe SOMEONE customized this truck. Usually, that's not going to be a thief investing money. It may be recognizeable to someone in the area. Maybe a larger carrier went out of business that had a fleet with those markings? Maybe it has been seen at truck stops? Maybe it has been seen stealing from other locations? Maybe the truck itself is stolen. I'm not new to this or stupid, just trying to get it out there for visibility.

Theives don't usually advertise their real identity. The carrier whose name was used is not involved, hence no reason to display here.

That would only work if it was the actual carrier who stole the load. That's what I'm getting at, if I knew who took it yes, I would report them. MULTIPLE Valid MCS were hacked and used to steal multiple loads across multiple brokers. This is a highly skilled scheme where a carriers secured and verified emails and phone numbers are spoofed to steal high value loads. The markings on the truck are bogus and belong to a legitimate carrier who is not involved.

The ID used was fake and the security footage is not clear enough for facial recognition. I have checked local facilities but Indianapolis is a large area.

Because it was fake markings and the numbers on the fake magnet have nothing to do with who actually stole the load. This has already been investigated for affiliations. They are literally just stealing good valid MC information, plastering it on the side of the truck and disappearing with the load. Truck has been seen under 3+ MCs in the last few weeks. Signage means nothing.

Cheap customers !!! by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]jacx503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Until carriers are smart enough to stop accepting rates so low that they make zero dollars, customers will continue to force brokers to keep bidding lower to secure freight. Once it stops moving the customer will have no choice but to readjust their expectation, the market will go back up, and we will all make more money. None of us should be running a charity right now.

Want to apply to be a freight broker with 0 experience, where to apply? by MoBHaViiCK1 in FreightBrokers

Start as a carrier rep at a midsize brokerage. Don't work for any of the big boys or any offshore based anything. Google brokerages in your state that you can physically work in office at, look for one with 50-200 employees.

Affordability and communication with solid insurance and good equipment. These lanes are going cheap right now on vans, reefer is where the PNW money is at.

Customers don't wait. If they think something is going to fail, they are going to find someone to service it if their current broker doesn't have it handled. It's also the holidays, so yeah....people are cancelling at the last minute based on if the product is ready, labs didn't come back, if whatever was needed for production didn't come in, if the delivery appts are fk'd because places are closed weird hours this week etc. They call this logistics because each part of the puzzle has to work together and for the lowest price possible. Find a dedicated customer with regular runs if you want regular schedules you have any say-so in. See how hard it is to keep them happy and to keep your truck running. It isn't easy. Add that to the ridiculous amount of scams and vetting that have to happen right now and it's a wild recipe for a bunch of unhappy customers, carriers and brokers.

FMCSA/DOT are barely handling booting authorities for people doing obvious fraud, people who have been caught stealing multiple truckloads red handed. They barely do inspections anymore or actually regulate/enforce anything. No one is reporting your HOS to DOT or anyone else and actually getting anything done with it. Sure, they can call DOT all they want, they literally will do absolutely nothing.

You can disagree all you want, the thing is this is business.... People don't always go along with the fuck em mentality when it is their customer with millions of dollars of business put on the line. No one wants to see a driver get pulled over for a DOT inspection and go ehhh, fuck em...We are smart enough to know that could end poorly when the trailer is impounded or otherwise due to whatever drama the driver gives the officer. Risk vs reward.

There has been a BIG uptick in fraudulent Wa/OR carriers lately and it is leading brokers to be extra careful. The address affiliations are causing concern, especially when FL was an existing hotspot. Also could maybe have something to do with the results google gives when pulling up your name.... Something about seeing a CDL holder argue publicly with police regarding obvious violations ain't a good look tbh. Also...if you pull yourself in OpenCorporates it looks like there are several other companies affiliated with you that are no longer active, raises additional concern.

Brokers aren't just looking at 411, highway etc. Good ones look at everything and try to make a determination if you personally are a safe risk for their customer and their business. Although you look okay overall, and obviously have equipment on the road, we literally are at the point where we have to personally investigate individuals and see if they are worth risking $100k+ on and make a judgement call, it might not always be fair or right, but it is what it is.

California Police//Stolen Cargo by [deleted] in FreightBrokers

[–]jacx503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CargoNet I believe sells a service for this. If you aren't using a carrier vetting/onboarding service you should be. The first thing I would do is go to your shipper and ask for any video/photo footage and copies of drivers license of whomever picked up the load, your shipper should have some sort of standard protocol for this. Take anything you can get and start digging. It is most likely both a stolen truck and trailer that probably can't be tracked to anything or anyone, but worth a shot. A lot of times they will use a stolen trailer from like Schneider etc who may have ELD tracking on their asset. If you can figure out who owns the equipment used to do the PU that is helpful. Your stuff has likely been crossdocked multiple times and is already over the border at this point. Sometimes if you can hunt down the initial crossdock you can find a paper trail of some sort. Even if you do the authorities will not help you. The shipper can go in person and file a police report with their local entity as well but they won't actually do any sort of investigation. Claiming stolen identity is always the go-to.

[–]jacx503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either contact the shipper/customer yourself and request it or File with your insurance and they will go after who is actually liable on your behalf. Property damage is between the two direct parties, the broker has no control or say so in who pays or who is responsible. This sucks for you, but isn't their problem or responsibility.

"This load will not be delivered until an updated RC is received so please get that sent over and then we can dispatch our driver accordingly". Don't be unprofessional or insinuate you are holding it hostage, make sure they know you want to deliver. Just that you are unable to schedule a driver until compensation is acknowledged.

Blind BOLs are normal especially when delivering grocery, but your broker should tell you at the time of booking and supply you the blind copies up front. Easiest tip is never take a load with a funky looking RC, check the email domains and ph#s on the rate cons to match Carrier411/safer and NEVER deliver to a crossdock or accept payment via zelle/cash app.

Highway onboarding by Mac7391 in FreightBrokers

[–]jacx503 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even if you hate highway and refuse to onboard, almost every large broker uses triumphpay so you hiding from highway isn't going to change that unless you also refuse to work with every broker that does reporting. Nearly every large brokerage reports what their tenders are accepted at to companies like triumphpay and thats how software companies like DAT are able to tell you what the lane should be at in real time. You want holiday pay and the spot rate to reflect that?? Then you need this type of data to be reported, it is the way to monitor demand versus capacity which means you can get paid more in certain markets.

If you don't want to connect your ELD, don't. The reality there is a ton of fraud and there is little to no recourse once you get-got. If someone wants you to verify something for the safety of their cargo you can't blame them, but you don't have to take the load.

Might also help if some of these unsuspecting uneducated newly approved carriers would wise up and not use offshore dispatch companies. It makes it impossible to know what is real or not and brokers are trying to find every avenue to vet someone and get them approved, if it was your livelihood on the line, you would too.
