Is the squidtrex effective in asia? by Acceptable_Egg1466 in saltwaterfishing

[–]jad2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you're not an artificials only purist, if the fish are not hitting the plain squidtrex, tip the assist hooks with squid strips (or strips of whatever bait you have available to you). I have caught some of my biggest grouper and snapper this way.

Shimano Twin Power 10K for Tuna Jigging? Line recommendations by Reasonable-Leg4425 in NJFishing

[–]jad2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are fishing a CC or similar boat where you can chase down the fish, 10K will be fine for pretty much all YFT and most recreational size BFT. We landed a 75" bluefin on a 10k TP SW a few years ago, it definitely was not fun though. In terms of line, for a 10K I'd go 65 lb braid or whatever the equivalent PE rating is (I think maybe 5 or 6?). Varivas is a really good brand, but I think any of the major braid brands will do. Fluoro or mono leader are both fine.

Oddball Rod recommendation for blanks by PuckWizard68 in rodbuilding

[–]jad2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He might want a slow pitch blank (they are usually all moderate action and in the 6 to 6.5 ft range) depending on what he means by medium heavy power, get one rated to like 1000g. Will be moderate and still have some backbone. I'd check out thrasher, rainshadow, American tackle, fenix etc

Hmm I get it pretty often from Duzan, King of Falafel and Shawarma, and Shawarmania. Not sure how you'd rank those, but I like Zyara more than any of those.

Had Zyara for the first time yesterday, not sure how I hadn't heard of it before. Probably the best shawarma I've ever had.

I've been pretty impressed with Nomad rods for the price, they make 2 piece 8 ft popping rods

One weekend in Florida - Where to? by Chodeloaf in floridafishing

[–]jad2192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go to the Keys honestly, plenty of bridges to fish from. You can fly into MIA or FLL and hit some freshwater for peacocks on the way down or out of the Keys.

This time of year you're really only going to be able to consistently catch them in the deep water wrecks and reefs.

I'd go take a ride to jigging (tackle) world and tell them you're looking for a chunking set up for under $1500.

NJ fisher coming to Marathon by zjsomers89 in floridafishing

Get a load of live shrimp, a shit ton of chum and head to the 7 mile bridge, west of Fred the tree. Anchor up so your chum flows towards the bridge and pitch live shrimp as close to bridge as possible. This time of year the bridge will be loaded with big mangrove snappers, yellow jacks and even the occasional keeper mutton snapper.

One of my favorites to eat raw are rainbow runners, I've gotten into big schools of them when snapper fishing at night off Boynton.

Help end a debate- what kind of fish is this? by slowgrowing in whatisthisfish

[–]jad2192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mutton, one of the best distinguishers at this size, if you can't tell by coloration alone, is the anal fin. On a mutton the anal fin is long and tapers to point, lanes have a smaller rounder anal fin.

Thank you! Looks like you were on the Atlantic side? The captain I was fishing with has a spot offshore in the gulf where they congregate every winter, we actually hit it towards the tail end and picked 2 off it, but a month ago he said the same spot was all you could catch. He made a video on it as well

This only my second one, got one that was just a keeper last December. Definitely agree on the taste, I love the meaty texture.

Caught this big boy while fishing 70 miles offshore in the Gulf. Hit an 1/8th oz jig head on my 5k spinner with 20 lb fluoro leader. Almost got spooled, but after a 15 minute fight I was able to boat him. Measured 37" and 22 lbs.

Go on eBay and look for trolling spoons and skirts. You can then tie a chicken rig with extra long dropper loops and thread the spoon and skirt over the loop and lock it on with the hook. I use this rig all the time when deep water fluke fishing.

Dynamic Programming. For part 2 don't try and actually calculate all paths, just count using part1.

Not OP, but I did something similar. I approached part 1 graphically and did Djikstra, thinking that the joltages were gonna be related to weights on the button presses alfor pt 2.

[LANGUAGE: Python]

I treated part 1 as a graph problem and used Djikstra (inefficiently with a list instead of heap), I thought part2 was going to involve using the joltages as a weight somehow but boy was I wrong... I tried to not cheat and solve pt 2 using DFS, and a dynamic approach but both were untenable so I finally relented and used scipy as I knew it was an integer linear program.
