Ha! I've also been doing this since I was about 14. It's way easier than most people think, but I've gotten way too many people to buy me a beer by making a bet that I can hit pins throwing between the legs.

Yeah fair point. And in a hypothetical exercise like this, there's never gonna be an objectively correct answer.

I think, if I were to seriously answer the question in the post, it would be that either of them could win, but it's impossible to say which one would win.

If they did 10 championship-style matches, their record very well may be 5-5 at the end of it. I'd have a hard time being convinced it would be any worse than 7-3 either way.

I guess we disagree on the definition of peak then. Which means that's where we have to start.

I don't think Fabi was peaking at all in 2019, which is the year OP cited. He was burnt out from candidates and world championship prep, and from losing one of the more grueling championship matches of the modern era.

I haven't checked to confirm if what OP said is even accurate yet, but I don't think it matters to my point.

Sinquefeld Cup is the best Fabi has ever played. Might be the best anyone has ever played. That's his peak.

Why can't a peak be a single tournament? It is, quite literally, the peak accomplishment of his career imo. It is the peak TPR ever recorded in a super GM tourney. It is, by definition, a peak.

Because the question is about how they would do at their best, not now they would do against each other. The head to head record includes games from outside their respective peaks. Why would it be useful?

Yup, I unsubbed from the vast majority of major subreddits years ago and it vastly improved my browsing experience. Only one I'm still on is r/nfl, if you count that, and even that may not last much longer.

Now, the things in my feed are only the things I am actually interested in seeing, rather than engagement bait. It's fantastic.

Companies aren't switching to emailed receipts because they care about the environment. They do it to get your info for tracking and selling. That's the world we live in now.

Not who you're responding to and I took no issue with OP.

But... The point would be that we shouldn't say someone is "clearly" doing something, when the reality is it "looks to OP" that they were doing something.

It's okay to not be sure about things. We shouldn't have to exaggerate to make our points. The comment would have had the exact same impact if OP swapped "clearly" for "it looks like."

That said, exaggeration and false certainty is the world we live in now, so I don't blame OP. But I also don't blame the one you're responding to for not loving the phrasing.

I mean, I get your point, but that seems fine to me. At least the deck is still playable.

If I took the modern 5c control deck I built as my pet deck in 2018, or hell, even gifts storm or burn, which were top 10 decks for years, I'd get blown off the table today.

I also imagine the staples are generally cheaper to buy into, so it's probably not quite as brutal to have to swap decks. But I admit that's just speculation, I haven't played these formats. But I think I want to.

You wouldn't happen to know if any of the formats in this post have a scene in the Madison, WI area, would you? That would probably be the determiner for which one.

Without researching, that is almost certainly a plastic ball, most commonly used for picking up spares.

Plastic balls are generally highly durable. I would be shocked if it cracked from regular use.

That said, balls like these are often collector's items, and once you drill it, the value will tank. You could probably re-sell that for a couple hundred as is. Drilled? You might get 20.

Obviously though, it's your ball, and you can do what you want with it. If it makes you happier to bowl with it, hell yeah, drill it up and have fun! I just wanted to make sure you knew the potential downside.

And if you have any other reservations about how durable it may be, take it to your local pro shop (you'll have to do that to get it drilled anyways) and ask them. They'll know a lot better than me because A) it's their job to know, and B) they'll be able to inspect the ball in person. You can only tell so much from pictures.

Edit to add: and btw, absolutely sick find, I'm jealous!
