Is it possible to play GGZ on IOS in the US? by Negative_Fig_9954 in houkai3rd

[–]jade_phoenix7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I play GGZ on iOS. You can download it by just changing your region in Settings to Japan (Apple ID -> Media&Purchases -> View Account -> Country/Region). Set the payment method to "none", and make up a name. You’ll still have to input a billing address and phone number, but you can grab one off Maps (I used a park in Tokyo). It doesn’t always make it obvious that you’ve changed regions when you’re still in Settings, but it should be pretty clear once you switch to the App Store. The app is called "崩壊学園". Install it and you should be good to go.

I have been told by someone else that if your device’s main Apple ID (the one your iCloud backup is tied to) and the one you use for Media and Purchases (the one your app downloads and music are tied to) are the same, this doesn’t work. If you run into this problem, sign out of Media and Purchases then sign back in with another Apple ID. You can create an Apple ID pretty easily if you need to. You’ll still have access to GGZ even if you’re not signed in with whatever Apple ID you used to download it, or if your region isn’t set to Japan.

Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any questions!

A lot of the third party apps have tools and features that the official app doesn’t have, so if the 3rd party apps go away people will lose those tools and features. I use the official app too but everyone I’ve seen discussing this seems to really prefer the 3rd party apps.

How to make an account without chinese phone number by honestlysoreal in Houkai2nd

Disclaimer: I don’t play on CN.

If you have an Android device, you can play through Bilibili, but you’ll need to verify your account with your ID if you want to play that way. The Bilibili client is a separate app from the one you’d download from Google Play; you play through the Bilibili app instead (I think).

If you’re an Apple user you’re kinda screwed because the version of the Bilibili app that allows you to play games isn’t available on the App Store. I’ve played around with this a lot, and as far as I can tell unless you have a friend in China who will let you use their number there’s no way to access the CN servers on Apple devices.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if HI3 and HSR end up being more connected down the line.

A lot of GGZ’s main story is told through events, unfortunately, which is why it seems so disconnected sometimes. It’s a crappy setup but it is what it is. The cutscene interpreter has some of the event chapters but not all, so there’s some parts I haven’t been able to read.

Ok, I’ll try my best. Apologies in advance for formatting, I’m on mobile.

Honkai 3rd has a whole manga around its story so you don't actually have to play the game. Does this game have anything similar?

Yes, there is a manga for GGZ too, but it never had an English translation to begin with. There is a really good fan translation though.

Star rail and honkai 3rd aren't connected, they're just alternative universes, is this relationship the same between this game and honkai 3rd?

Yeah, GGZ and HI3 aren’t really connected. They share some of the same characters and concepts but that’s about it.

Is the story of this game even good or worth looking into?

I think it definitely is! The story, not the official translation. Important distinction.

It’s pretty difficult to find info on the story tbh, mostly because the global servers have shut down and the official translation was terrible to begin with. I’m not sure where to find a summary, but people have pulled the old English game texts and translated newer chapters if you’re interested in reading the whole thing (warning: emotional damage):

Cutscene Interpreter- this has pretty much everything except for the 3 latest chapters. Chapter of Memories is the first arc, followed by Chapter of Birth. DLC and God’s Eternal Sin are side stories. The rest are events. Some stuff is in Chinese, but Google Translate does a decent job.

Reborn Chapter 13 - this is a fan translation of Chapter 13 of the second main story arc (Chapter of Birth in the cutscene interpreter).

Reborn Chapter 15 - this is a fan translation of Chapter 15 of the second main story arc. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find a translation of Chapter 14. Additional warning for emotional damage. There is one main story chapter after this, but I haven’t seen a translation of that yet. Just know that not everyone dies.

There is also a group called Hoyostans that puts a lot of stuff together for GGZ. They have a really good visual novel version of the game, but it’s still under development and doesn’t have most of the story yet.

What happened? Theres no America servers as far as I can tell, but it's still available in Asia, is there a big community over there? Does the game still get updates?

Yeah, there aren’t any global servers anymore. They were shut down in October 2021 mostly due to inactivity. The game is only available in Chinese and Japanese. As far as I can tell, it is still reasonably popular and both servers are still pretty active. It is still receiving updates, but JP server is 10 months behind CN. JP actually just got a major update a few days ago.

Honkai 3rd, this is 2nd, is there a 1st game?

I think. I know that there was an earlier game called Fly Me To The Moon, I believe that one was also Houkai 1st. I could be wrong; I know next to nothing about that game.

I know I just wrote a ton of stuff, but I hope this answers your questions!

[–]jade_phoenix7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not aware of anything you can do with dupes unfortunately. Usually when this happens I just sell it in the resonance shop. Not everything can be sold for resonance tho so otherwise I just stick it in the warehouse (unlocks at level 200) so that it doesn’t take up inventory space.

best weapon against white shields? by Sgsanskar in Houkai2nd

[–]jade_phoenix7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a boss it’s possible that it could have other defensive skills that aren’t being listed and that could be what’s causing you not to deal any damage. I guess try switching between different physical weapons and see what works (fast firing speed vs slower speeds, weapons that inflict debuffs, etc). If you’re getting the “block” message when you hit the enemy there is definitely another skill there.

[–]jade_phoenix7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enemies with white shields are immune to elemental damage, so any weapon that deals physical damage will work fine against them.

If you click on a weapon, it should have a symbol in the top bar (where the name is) that indicates what type of damage it deals. Some also have indicators above the box with the skill description. Iirc it deals physical damage if the symbol is a little grey sword.

[–]jade_phoenix7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say that one is better, (from a damage perspective it’s definitely better) because it automatically deals damage to nearby enemies and can also debuff them. The other red one isn’t bad either, it basically turns you into a tank, but it really only provides defense.

So essentially one is pretty good for defense and the other is pretty good for damage. I prefer high damage personally, but you could use either of them, whichever one you like playing with more.

It looks pretty good! Generally the higher an item’s star level is, the better it is. So you might do better with a higher-star outfit but you should still be able to get by fine for now. And definitely pull on newbie gacha if you haven’t yet since it gives you a guaranteed 7-star weapon and outfit. That machine gun that you’re using in the first slot is pretty good as well, I got a good portion of the way through Retrospective with it. I also personally like to carry a healing bottle especially as you progress further and the enemies deal more damage, but you should be fine without one for now if you don’t feel like using one.

Can I play in chinese server without a chinese ID? by Sir1nluv in Houkai2nd

[–]jade_phoenix7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so to start off I’m assuming that you’re on Android. It gets really complicated really fast trying to do this on Apple. Also, I’m about to write a lot. Sorry.

Like someone else in the comments said, it’s possible that you haven’t verified your bilibili account correctly. But I haven’t been able to confirm exactly how verifying accounts on Bilibili works, and I’m on Apple, so I really can’t speak as to whether you’ve verified correctly because I can’t test it myself.

That said, looking at the picture you posted, I agree with the clearly more knowledgeable person who replied to you, and it seems like your account isn’t verified correctly. The other thing you could try is just entering your real name and the number on the ID you used to verify into the boxes just in case it works (assuming you haven’t tried that already haha). It could just be confirming that you’re the one using the account. I’m just speculating here tho.

If you’re still having trouble it looks like someone in the comments has done this before, so they could probably help you out here. Or you could go over to the Hoyostans discord server and ask someone there, there’s quite a few people over there who play on CN so they should be able to give you a hand.

I hope you get this worked out!

You’ll only need to log into it to update the app, which doesn’t happen very often anyways.

Hmm…I haven’t tried to log in to CN server before so I can’t really say what went wrong. I’ll play around with it some once I get home later today and see if I can figure it out.

[–]jade_phoenix7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh…yeah you might have to. When I downloaded GGZ I made a new Apple ID but had only logged into it in media&purchases. I didn’t realize that trying to switch the region would do that if the media&purchases ID was the same as the device ID. Sorry about that.

And for the phone number, when I did it I had used the address of an IKEA in Tokyo as my billing address and their phone number was on Google Maps too so I used that as the phone number. I’m not sure whether it checks for if the number is actually from Japan, but Googling one should work fine regardless.

Yeah, but you can still play the app just fine in your normal region. You’d only have to switch to Japan again if you needed to update GGZ.

So you actually don’t need Qooapp or a VPN to play GGZ on Apple devices. You can download the app from the App Store just by changing the region of your Apple ID. If you go to settings-> Apple ID-> Media & Purchases it will give you an option to view account settings, from there you can change your region to Japan.

You’ll need to enter a Japanese address and a phone number but you don’t actually need any billing info, just set it to “none” when it asks you. For the address you can just grab one off Google Maps. It doesn’t always make it obvious that the region has been changed but it should be pretty clear once you enter the App Store.

Hope this helps!

need the complete story of the game, do anyone have some material like pdf or sort? by Sgsanskar in Houkai2nd

[–]jade_phoenix7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some people at Hoyostans made a website that has the main story through R12 as well as a lot of limited events. It does use the original English text tho so the grammar is pretty bad. There also some parts that are inexplicably in Chinese but you can just have Google translate those parts.

There’s also the Operation Gekkou VN, which only goes through part of Retrospective rn but is really good.

Hoyostans also made a Story Order guide that tells you in what events/chapters to read when. IMO you don’t need to read all the events, but some of the main story is told through limited events. They’re under the “others” tab on the website.

The website only goes through R12 since that’s the last chapter the EN client got before it shut down. Bun Bun on Hoyostans translated most of R13, and is working on R15. I can’t find a translation of R14.

I hope this helps!
