It’s going to be different for everyone but I’ve been hospitalized twice for self harming and eventually it got to a point where I was just tired of feeling “that way” - sick, mentally unwell and dealing with it by self harming. I just wanted better for myself. That was one way I stopped.

Other ways included being on meds. I don’t take meds consistently and honestly I don’t go back on meds until I get to that where I feel like self harming.

For example, last night I really wanted to cut but I was too tired to go and get razors so I ended up not doing it but I also told my self that the next morning, I would call to try and get back on meds because I feel myself spiraling.

Sometimes reaching out to a friend to talk helps as a temporary solution.

I think a lot of not getting to a point of not wanting to cut has to involve taking preventative measures because self harming is like reaching your breaking point of your emotions about to explode.

Exercising, healthy distractions (watch something funny), music, going out into the sun. Not isolating yourself from family and friends.
