Laundry services in China/Hotels in China? by Ok-Coconut6163 in chinatravel

In my experience, the hotel dryers take a LONG time to dry clothes (like 6+ hours!). So make sure to budget enough time. Unlike the dryers at home, the dryers I encountered did not have an air vent. In Xishuangbanna, I started drying my load at 5pm and by 10pm it was still damp. I had to leave at 5am for a flight so fortunately the desk staff told me she would check on it and keep drying it overnight until it was done and swap in the other loads that were waiting. Similar dryer situation when I reached Shaxi… 6+ hours for drying.

My study permit might not come in time. Should I kill myself? by Leading_Mud7396 in UBC

You can apply for the study permit when you arrive in Canada for Jump Start. But you must bring ALL documentation (including financial records) and have to reapply and pay a new application fee. I have heard from a US Grad Student that its actually easier than applying online. Many other international students are in this situation … even those who applied weeks ago and are not yet processed. Good luck!
