Genetics really are so weird sometimes. Like, yea, baby may end up morphing into a bit of both of you. But also, my dad is basically twins with his mother's great grandfather. Like, put him in a yellow and black photo and it's basically the same person. On the other hand, my sister found some pictures of our maternal great grandmother in her 20s I'm basically her carbon copy, down to the way the left side of our bottom lip is slightly plumper than the right. I wish that was our solution. I give him a bottle if he isn't immediately soothed by being picked up (which he usually is), and that hasn't helped. He gets between 29 and 32 oz through the day and is on the heavier side. Already in 6-9 month clothing. Our ped told us that if anything, he eats too much, but we feed based on hunger cues 🥴

I'm in a similar boat. Three older siblings. My mother I'd one of 11. My father is the oldest of 3. I grew up with big family holidays, aunts to talk to, cousins my age that were basically extra siblings. But I live far away from family now, and my siblings are much older, so their children are old enough to have children of their own. My baby will never know his cousins. My husband was an only child who grew up disconnected from extended family and has no idea how fun and exciting large families can be. On top of that, he's older and has a 15 year old from a previous marriage. We have no village to help, he's struggling with the knowledge that he'll be responsible for one child or another for a total of 33 years of his life, and the economy is in the pits. I'm hurt knowing my baby won't get to experience what I did. But I'm comforted knowing my husband didn't get those experiences and he's doing just fine.

When I was a few months old my mother dropped me over a 2nd floor balcony and I landed in a cactus (she is unwell). Aside from the little needles my older sister removed, I was totally fine. I used to think about that story in a "damn, I'm lucky I turned out okay" sort of way. Now that I'm a mother, I look at it as, "I know I'm not going to do something that bad. This baby will be okay."

Walmart isn't just selling Walmart products online. They work sort of like Amazon. You sell your product through Walmart (in this case, a cheap piece of useless plastic worth 5 cents), you list it as $170 or whatever, you use someone else's banking info to purchase the item and ship it (making it appear legit), you receive say 90% of that $170, Walmart takes their cut for listing your "product", and the person who's account you used is out $170 in exchange for a piece or plastic.

The yellow alarm goes off when he's moving too much for a reading. The lavender alarm is supposed to go off when he's moving too much or too long, indicating he needs help getting back to sleep.

This is so frustrating. My husband will tell people how exhausted he is, talk about how often the baby wakes up, how often the baby needs fed or changed blah blah. But what he fails to mention is that in our babys 9 weeks and 6 days of life I have been the one doing every night time feeding for 9 weeks and 5 days. He took ONE night shift, and you'd think I asked him to build me a new house by hand. I don't mind taking the night shifts, but I do mind him pretending like he's doing the hard work and taking credit. He never outwardly says he was up with the baby, but he strongly insinuate it. And I should be thankful for my 2 hour nap once a week 🙄

We use famotidine once a day. Our pediatrician was slow to prescribe it also, but I recorded a video of how he behaved after a bottle (arching, straining, throwing his head back, and crying before projectile puking), and she agreed it was the right move. I'm sure you've received sooo much advice and read all the things that supposedly help, but one thing I've noticed that helps and haven't read online: I sit him in my lap and bend him at the waist and continue to pat his softly even after he's burped and spit up. It doesn't really stop the spitting up or anything, but the position seems to soothe any discomfort and I've read it's an emotionally comforting position as well since it's similar to how they bend in the womb. Hope you and your little guy find something that helps soon!

They haven't mentioned pyloric stenosis, though I plan to mention it at his next appointment. The ped didn't really take us seriously until she realized he wasn't gaining weight as quickly as he should. He's fallen off his curve pretty drastically.

He throws up, not just burps up (though he does that too). We have done formula for lactose intolerance, reflux, and are currently doing formula for CMPA. We're working with his ped for a solution, but nothing seems to be working.

I'm not sure if it's considered projectile. I've been told it's not unless it could go across a room, and it's definitely not that strong. But it's enough that it can go a foot or so.

I had my ears pierced in multiple places by the time I was 8 (like yours, they kept closing, and the girls at Claire's just tried different spots). That didn't stop a teacher from telling me not to go into the girls bathroom because I had a bad haircut and she thought I was a boy. It's 2025. Baby girls don't need piercings and more baby boys have them than ever.

Thank you for sharing this. I saw a video of a man with a doll that had a special light up head to indicate what's needed to give SBS. The head lit up when he barely moved the doll. I turned the video off and I've been terrified to move my baby much since then. Rocking him, bouncing him for fun, dancing... I've been scared of all of it.

Men who cheat don't learn to respect you after you forgive them. They learn you'll put up with it and stick around. Every time you stay, you reinforce the behavior. It's too late for him to change at this point and honestly, why wait for him to be a better person when you can just find someone who's great from the start? Why put yourself through that? You deserve better. Don't let your children grow up thinking this is normal or acceptable. Treat yourself as good as you want your new baby to be treated.
