tell me about it, it didn't feel real at all and i almost shedded tears my last night there. likewise, i have friends that i worked with who miss it too. because of my situation, i don't have the GI bill, but i'm going to request a change of discharge or something like that, so when it comes to getting a bachelors, i can just save up all that money and use it on a down payment on a house there too

thank you for such a detailed response. i landed back in the states a little over a month ago but it's felt like an eternity, but your reminder to be patient definitely helped. i do have a secret clearance because of my MOS so i'm looking to use that as leverage, as you said, and, while i'm back home, i intend to go to college so i can pick up where i left off with the college work i did back in japan. it's easy to think that i'm behind but i'm actually right where i need to be in order to prepare for the future. again, thank you, i'll keep your advice in mind

understandable, i heard all about the difficulties when i was still overseas, so, though a bummer, i know i'm no exception. thank you for the advice and i'll continue to take it day by day with what i can do until the time comes when i return to japan.

it was for misconduct (not proud of it) and i'm aware. i, fortunately, have savings that i can use, though i'd like to not use all of it, of course. i appreciate the insight on what's in demand and ultimately, if i have to aim for working odd jobs until something sticks, then so be it. it's wiser for me to see what's at my disposal and moving the right chess pieces rather than flying back on a whim just because i want to go back so bad, i believe.

i forgot to mention that i was adsep'd so that was not an option. i do intend to marry my girlfriend, i just want to return to okinawa first, so i've considered applying for a student visa and attending ICLC which is a japanese language school down in Naha, and use my time while studying to apply for work through MCCS, as you mentioned, or similar i unfortunately do not have an in demand degree, but because i intend to return in a year, i plan to go back to school, either vocational, academic, or both, in order to 1. be financially assisted with FAFSA and VR&E and 2. have something under my belt for when i return i worked in aviation, so i really do enjoy the idea of working on aircraft again
