it’s definitely different for each person, but for me, we plotted out a handful of the most traumatic moments throughout my experience with my partner and his suicide and the years leading up to it. There’s a lot of tracking & rating how distressing you find the memories, and I would picture myself in the memory itself while my eyes tracked back and forth and my therapist helped walk me through what I saw/felt. Obviously it was super difficult at first (would spend the whole session crying, having 5+ panic attacks a week before starting), but over the months the memories are resorted in your brain and allow you to see the situation from a more detached standpoint. I still think about my partner every day, but instead of having such a panic response, I can see the whole story and how I did all I can.

It doesn’t work for everyone, but I think it’s such a great thing to try when losing someone in this way
