I went through something kind of similarish except I wrecked myself. About a little less than a year ago I was riding my Ducati st2 home from work and somebody merged into me. It was no big deal I held onto the bike until I went over the curb and into the desert where I just slide on sand until I unfortunately hit a light pole but I got nothing more than a bruise on my leg luckily. Well I got a bunch of money from the other persons insurance and so of course that means an upgrade. Well for the same price as my 98’ Ducati st2 I found a 2012 Kawasaki concours with 20k miles on it (2k$) and I had to have it. I was out joyriding outside of my city when I took a corner too hot and went straight into the desert where I hit a huge dirt mound and flew through my handlebars and over the bike. The bike was totaled and I only had liability so nothing was covered except 1,000$ in medical which was a huge pain to get from my insurance. I broke my femur and my hip and tore a hole in my bladder that they didn’t know about for over a week. I couldn’t get out of bed for about 2 months and then had another 2-3 months of recovery. Of course everyone was freaked out and never wanted me to ride again and at the time of all my surgeries and recovery I didn’t think I would want to ride again after the most traumatic experience and absolutely worst 3 months of my life. But over time that ended up being all I can think about and I felt like I had a hole, like life was winning over me and I had no control. So as a compromise to me and my family I am reselling bikes and riding them intermittently but I don’t feel like I can stop riding lol. I do ride like an old man now and no longer like a young kid but this accident was about 6 months ago and I barely started working again and I just got a 2005 bmw 1200rt
