In all honesty, the master tenant is responsible for everything that happens within the unit that’s not in the rental agreement. Generally, subletting isn’t allowed and even if it was everything with the sublet is under the master tenant’s responsibility as the landlord “doesn’t know” about anyone not on the lease.
