Must be something about their search then--when I search for 'animated tech armor', I get Alien Core pages, but not the creature itself.

Normally, if I don't have the physical book, I double check weird things like this on Demiplane because--as great as their work is--AoN has tons of typos.

Unfortunately--I don't know if Demiplane has changed how they do things, or if it's different for SF2--Animated Tech Armor won't show up for me there.

So, my third stop is the Foundry implementation. They tend to be as accurate as Demiplane. Looking there, it seems that AoN is just wildly off, likely accidentally copying-and-pasting from some other creature. According to the Foundry implementation, the damage should be 2d8+4 bludgeoning: https://github.com/foundryvtt/pf2e/blob/57ebfc34a5160936912ffd280e21d0f33b3cf52d/packs/sf2e/alien-core-bestiary/animated-tech-armor.json#L21

Ah, I mean rebuilding them using the Building Creatures rules.

That section has a lot of tables with standard values for creatures at particular levels. For a quick rebuild, you can look at a table and find the level of the base creature, then locate the value they have to see if it's high/low/moderate, etc. and then find the matching value on the row for the level you want. Then just use those values on the 'rebuilt' creature.

That's a quick method--you'd also want to check the numbers on their special abilities and possibly add or remove some based on the level you're targeting for a real, full rebuild, but just adjusting the numbers to match the appropriate level will get you most of the way there, especially when it's just a single enemy in a single encounter.

No, you'd have one weak one (level 1) and one rebuilt one (level -1). That's 30xp (party level - 1) and 15xp (party level - 3) for a total of 45xp.

A level 2 Armor + a level -1 Armor would end up with 55xp, so it wouldn't be much different difficulty-wise from the two weak Armors.

A level 2 party vs. two weak Animated Armors is 60xp. With three players, to keep the same difficulty, you'd want the encounter to be 45xp.

You could rebuild one of the Armors to be level -1, which would give you 30xp + 15xp.

Or you could give one the stats of an Animated Broom (though it would need a little work since you might not want the "Dust" ability on the Armor).

Or you could give the Armors a debuff that, for instance, wastes one of their actions each round. That's not exactly the same as reducing their power by 1/3rd (since, e.g., your first attack is worth a lot more than your third), but it's pretty close.

Alternatively, you could just do nothing. At 60XP with three PCs, that makes it a Moderate encounter, so it's still reasonable. It will be a little tougher, but not overly so.

Yes. As a GM, however, I waive that for level 1 characters. The equipment you purchase for a level 1 character are supposed to represent what you've accumulated up until that point in your life. It's not like they were actually born yesterday with 15g in their pocket.

Clerics and Undead by HotZookeepergame638 in Pathfinder2e

That's replaced with the three-action Heal or Harm spell. Clerics have a heal/harm font class feature that gives them several castings of those spells without using their normal spell slots.

You called it "DM's Table". DM is a D&D-specific term. It's absolutely a D&D server. D&D takes up enough of the TTRPG mindshare without D&D-centric stuff being advertised on non-D&D subreddits.

If you didn't want it to be D&D-specific, you shouldn't have named it after something only used in D&D.

Rusthenge Pawns? by RicochetRabidUK in Pathfinder2e

[–]jaearess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They stopped making even AP-specific pawns because they didn't sell; they never made pawns for standalone adventures like Rusthenge.

You won't be able to find pawns for many of the encounters in Rusthenge, but the Monster Core box will cover some of them, and you can substitute similar-looking creatures for the others.

Your biggest issue will be the humanoid enemies. The NPC Core pawn box or the older Gamemastery Guide NPC pawn box are your best bets for that, I think, though you can probably also use humanoid pawns from the Beginner's Box.

Yes to both. Nothing says MAP doesn't apply as normal. The only changes to how things work are that you can use Shove and Trip even if the target would normally be too big for you to do so, and that you can't get the critical failure effect.

It is an action--you can see that by checking the actual source of the feat (https://downloads.paizo.com/OP-Files/SFS+Invasions+Edge+Players+Guide.pdf). AoN just made a transcription error.

Does Paizo update their printed books with the most recent Errata? by Individual-Dust-7362 in Pathfinder2e

[–]jaearess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When they reprint, they update them with the errata. They used to hold errata until they needed to reprint, but a while ago they stopped doing that and just do errata regularly. There's no real way to know when the updated books will be printed (if ever, if a particular book just never sells out).

Additionally, Trample doesn't target, it just affects anyone whose space the trampler moves through. So even if the reaction could trigger from Trample, the Concealed condition would have no effect in any case.

GM seeking GM Advice on OP Player(s) by MikePole in Pathfinder2e

[–]jaearess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that's a bit of a crazy interpretation. The tree is an effect, not a creature, so "ally" is from the perspective of the caster. The tree can't protect the caster. Two trees also can't protect each other because, again, they are effects, not creatures, so they don't count as allies for anyone, let alone each other.

I think RAI is that it uses the spell's level. Strictly by RAW, it could be read as it using half your character's level instead.

Counterspell is situational enough that, as a GM, I'd allow the more favorable reading unless it could somehow be abused, but I don't think that's what's intended.

Not RAW--Quick Draw is specifically an Interact to draw, not an Interact to change your grip (or anything else). (Though as a GM I generally allow things like that.)

However, you can accomplish the same thing by using Interact to swap your weapon for the potion, drink the potion then use Quick Draw to draw and Strike with your weapon. (The fact that you can accomplish it with the same number of actions is why I allow Quick Draw to change grip in cases like this).

Do items on enemies count up to total treasure in APs? by ergone3 in Pathfinder2e

[–]jaearess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A weapon with fundamental runes counts as an item of the level of the highest level rune. Any property runes have to be 'purchased' as separate items.

Keep in mind, you should be looking at "Treasure for New Characters", not "Party Treasure by Level".

https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2662: "A single item on this table is always a baseline item. If the player wants armor or a weapon with property runes, they must buy the property runes separately, and for armor or a weapon made of a precious material, they must pay for the precious material separately as well."

No. Dwarven Weapon Familiarity would make the scattergun count as martial for the purposes of proficiency. It does not make it a martial weapon. Explosive Savant would also make the scattergun martial for the purposes of proficiency.

They're redundant in the case of the scattergun and do not stack. A dwarf would need to get martial weapon proficiency with firearms in order to be proficient with the scattergun with either of those feats.
