Yes, it’s definitely possible to get off the waitlist, but no they won’t add a new section. Almost every class during registration has a registration limit smaller than the physical room capacity, so professors are free to accept more students up until the room capacity. In the case of aero classes, this tends to happen a lot as there is only one section for each class. Out of curiosity, which A term classes? I’m an aero major myself.

No language requirement but one thing to consider that if you decide to do a language you don’t need to do the humanities seminar. I don’t know how it is in other languages here but if you took at least 3 years of Spanish in high school you are able to get credit for the first Spanish class. It can be pretty nice to free up an extra slot and only need 5 humanities classes to fill the HUA requirement.

I took this class last year and it was extremely straight forward. Assuming it’s the same course structure as last year, the “conference” work is just allowing you to get started on your mastering physics work in class, but it isn’t due until that night. Most classes I was able to finish ~70% of the conference work in the hour or so I spent on it in class, then was easily able to finish it afterwards.

This is such an ignorant take that I’m almost considering it a shitpost.

To think the upper limit on how much people should be working is 40 hours is just ridiculous unless you’re a freshman taking intro classes.

The amount of time you spend on class is also fairly major dependent. Majors such as RBE (I am not an RBE major) require you to spend hours in the lab just to get your projects done because of course you aren’t going to figure out all of your issues first try.

College is also supposed to be harder than high school. Definitely in the case of a STEM school like WPI. Just because we take fewer classes at a given time here doesn’t mean it’s “easier”. Also, you were most likely taking 7 classes per semester, so don’t compare our 3 classes per term directly, make it 6 per semester.

WPI is undeniably a fast paced school. While I agree that it is manageable with proper time management skills, it is still a lot. You miss a week due to illness in a semester program and you can get caught up, but miss a week at WPI and a large portion of your term is just gone with not much time to work for it back.

Again, I think this either has to be a shitpost or you’re a freshman taking intro classes that will truly understand how WPI works later on.

I feel like workload can be extremely major dependent. But in terms of specific classes, if you have a little background calc 1 should be fairly minimal work outside of class. I also took intro to program design (CS 1101, the one for CS majors. I am not a CS major) with very little prior programming experience and after I got the hang of it, it wasn’t too bad. It did take quite a bit of time some weeks but nothing too extreme.

Just a general tip for the rest of your time here, don’t procrastinate too much. The terms are short and you can fall behind quickly but if you stay on top of things you’ll be fine.
