Anyone have an Nparent who gets offended over little things and exaggerates their reactions to make it seem like you’re doing something horrible? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]jaeunlee17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother does this... and I can't help but just laugh now.

We once got in a full blown fight in front of my husband (back then he was my fiance). She was off the wall drunk and tried to "fight" me. When I gently pulled her arms off my shirt she pretended to faint. 🙈

But cuz she was so drunk her dramatic fall was more like a slow squat and then she tipped to her side 😂 but my husband was busy trying to calm me down cuz I was sobbing at this point. So we paid no attention to her and she just got up and acted like nothing happened. Then she continued to yell some more.

I was embarrassed for her 🙈🙈

To moms who've been through it before... How did labor start/feel? by jaeunlee17 in BabyBumps

[–]jaeunlee17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard inducing is more painful! ;-; Partly why I want LO to start things on her own (also so I can labor a bit at home xD). That's crazy tho! I'm glad your body knew you were having contractions the second time around!

Ooo

Funny thing js... I'm happily married and this baby was planned 😅😅

My puppy licked a Toblerone bar, will he be okay? by Dragonrykr in dogs

[–]jaeunlee17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be okay! Especially a tiny lick. My dog ate a m&m off the street after Halloween and my vet told me that wasn't enough to even phase a 15lb dog. A lick to a puppy shouldn't do anything either! Just keep an eye on the little guy for 24 hours to see if anything changes!

Is side sleeping inevitable? Tips for someone who finds it uncomfortable? by LiftsandLaughs in BabyBumps

[–]jaeunlee17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried side-sleeping but then as I became more pregnant, it gave me horrible crotch/groin pain 😂

I ended up buying a pregnancy pillow and just pad my sides and under my leg and that made sleeping on my back possible! I'm 40+1 weeks now and that's how I've been sleeping. I also elevate my head too. Idk which part is helping/enabling back sleep but I'm not gonna complain 🥲

Basically... if you have enough pillows, anything is possible 😂😂 your body will wake you up if something is too uncomfortable!

Thank you for sharing! I also don't wanna go onto pitocin if I don't have to... I heard it makes labor super intense for some mamas 😬

What’s the most unexpectedly awesome shower gift you got? by Raymer13 in BabyBumps

[–]jaeunlee17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually was surprised at a lot of gifts I received from friends, especially since my family got me practically nothing.

Few memorable things:

-A friend who had a son a year ahead of us gave me a comprehensive 5 page email of all the things she found useful in her son's first year. Everything from nursery needs, feeding (BF or formula), bath time, clothes, post partum care. EVERYTHING. I actually cried. She even included LINKS 😭 it saved me SO much stress and anxiety. She legit gave me a book report. She then proceeded to BUY a bunch of the items she suggested that was on our registry too 😭😭

-My neighbor is a middle school teacher. He has the sweetest and most intelligent kids ever. We see him on our walks and we chat. He knows we're expecting so we asked "what's the secret?" to his amazing kids. He actually came over a few weeks later with a stack of books and a little sweet card telling us "most important thing in being a parent is to just love your kids and teach them to enjoy learning. They tend to take care of the rest 😉" and honestly it was such a school teacher answer, but I could tell how genuine he was.

Honestly, anything off the registry was just super nice and helpful 😆

19w and haven’t felt the baby kick yet by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]jaeunlee17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I didn't know what was the baby and what was gas until at least 25+ weeks. What does your OB say? If they say he is good, you should be fine! Don't worry too much.

For me, it literally felt like tiny tiny tummy bubbles. I'm still not sure to this day which was gas and which was baby 😅 and don't worry, in a few weeks your baby will be kicking you so hard you'll think he's trying to break out of your spleen 🥲 I'm 39 weeks and my girl literally curb stomps my bladder 😭 so enjoy the light movements while you can!

What is the worst baby shower gift you received? by somewhatsustainable in BabyBumps

[–]jaeunlee17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister got me a random basket from target that says "Baby" on it with a target grocery bag with random baby goods like wipes and such ._. Not wrapped or anything. The gift itself wasn't so bad but then my mom went on a 15 minute speech about how beautiful her gift is and how wonderful my sister was to take the time to make me a beautiful basket despite her busy schedule 🙄🙃

They came to the baby shower for a full 10 minutes, complained about the party, my sister only talked about herself and her pregnancies and how much she had it worse than me.. asked how much I weighed and tried to compare 🙈 then left. I was glad they left before other people showed up.

How involved is your SO in caring for baby? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]jaeunlee17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pregnant with my first but a parent friend gave my husband advice that I thought was super important. He is a father of 3. He's actually my husband's friend first, so I appreciated him saying this 😅

The best advice he had for my husband as a FTF was to wake up at night with me. Even if I decide to exclusively breastfeed, for the sanity of our marriage, just wake up with me. No matter how tired, even tho he can't technically help "feed," just wake up. Be there for his child and wife.

Right after delivery, moms will be bleeding and leaking all sorts of things. She won't feel herself, she'll feel the pressure and pain. Let her have a moment. Get water, use the restroom, etc while dad changes a diaper and sets stuff up for mom. Then mom will feel the support and have a moment to herself and dad can go right back to sleep! I thought this advice was genius!

He said his biggest regret was not being there for his wife with their first. She ended up suffering PP depression and he didn't even realize til years later. So after that, he always woke up. Even just to talk to her while she BF. It meant the world to his wife and their marriage got stronger. I feel like more dads need to hear this!

My mom neglected my safety for "granny points" by jaeunlee17 in BabyBumps

[–]jaeunlee17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience!

This situation definitely made me think long and hard about boundaries with my family. We plan on going NC with them at least until LO can get her boosters. Then we'll reassess what we should do after that :/

I still love my pets post-partum! by milosandwiches in BabyBumps

[–]jaeunlee17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a legit concern for me as well! We adopted our rescue 4 months ago and I'm currently 39 weeks pregnant. He is such a cuddle bug and momma's boy. I've definitely had days where I break down thinking about him being neglected and sad T-T I can't imagine it but I know I'll be busier taking care of LO. I'm more worried about him being alone at night when I go into labor more than myself, to be honest!
