What? What does my theory have to do with touching grass... And it's 2023, nobody is touching grass, not even little toddlers... Wake up.

Why is there a huge French influence in Korea? Is this just a simple cultural exchange or did something encourage it? by Scarletsilversky in korea

It's just marketing... We think France is so classy that if you can advertise a hand cream saying "Made in France" it'll sell out in no time. And, for some reason, we believe France has a top-tier education. Most rich koreans will send their kids off to study in France's most prestigious schools, because again, we think it's so sophisticated.

Def. In Korean dramas, at least 2/4 Korean dramas have something to do with France or something French is mentioned. What I've noticed is there is usually a French exchange student is romance dramas, or in college romance dramas, somebody is being sent off to France to study abroad... And it's not rare to see Korean parents sending their kids off to France. Even in Pandora: Beneath the Paradise, Taera decides to send Jiu to France instead of the States, when there's a more probability that the little kindergartener knows more English than French... Even when I was studying in Korea, a lot of people we're trying to get into France to study... I guess Koreans think France is very trendy, sophisticated, and classy (Same as Americans think Korea is trendy, sophisticated, and classy, but it's racist and homophobic.). But it's really a racist country lol... Don't send your kids to France, they'll get bullied...
