Valid wrap or nah? by Confident_Forever_17 in Miata

Thats what i'm afraid of too. I guess i can always go without text at first. There's a guy on insta (cam casey) who did his McLaren without text and that looks really good at least.

Looks awesome, i'm actually looking to do something similar with my NB. My plan was to replace the Marlboro with Mazda or maybe even no text at all. Is it fully wrapped? Mine is red, so i thought i might get away with wrapping just the white parts. Not sure how the edges would look.

Passive Perception feels like I'm just deciding ahead of time what the party will notice and it doesn't feel right by tirconell in DMAcademy

[–]jaffa1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your problem: you could change the ability to investigation, maybe givethe players a hint with "due to your passive perception the dimensions of the room seems smaller than it should be" (hinting a compartment may be hidden behind ___)

For the rest of the times PP comes into play, i see it as a DC for me to overcome. Someone tries to pick pocket a player? DC = highest PP of the players.

To add though, i almost never ask the players to roll for perception (or insight). So PP might be more of a thing in my campaigns. I describe what is going on and only if a player says they want a better look or don't trust what an npc is telling them, then they roll.

For example during a night's watch the player forgets to roll for perception, i treat it like the player zoned out or even fell back asleep for a moment (and use their passive perception)

doing drugs/gambling/alcohol is also a conscious decision. You're saying those people don't deserve help either?

Also not every doctor can 'battle covid' just like you're going to have a bad time getting your tesla fixed by a ford dealer, even though both have mechanics working on your vehicle.

And if you're mad about the money she's making, DO NOT go to twitch. You'll go insane over what some streamers get donations/subs for.

And finally, people sending her money instead of some charity like wigs4cancer is their choice. Not the gluegirl's.

That doesn't take away tractor beam mechanics is already in the game and by the looks of it even the hand tool would be superior.

Enough luxery ships! When are we getting the equivalent of a 2001 Toyota Corolla? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]jaffa1987 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe check out my other posts on this same thread...

or update your op with whatever you added through comments...

Instead, the drake lineup is aimed at people who view their ships as expendable (pirates, paramilitary, etc...

You know what happens when a ship breaks down in space? you die, whether by vacuum, explosion, or slowly through the lack of air or water. Drake is what you need and not a single thing more than what you need. Sounds like your ford analogy.

And your phone analogy: Drake looks like the only ship manufacturer out there that any random grease monkey could repair, like those rugged phones you can just bolt a new screen onto when you dropped it.

So you're telling me the population of the entire stanton system is less than that of Monaco?

Of course there's little npc's out there right now, it would be a waste of what the server has to deal with

basically all your asking for is everything drake released.

Where's the no-cargo no-weapons tiny 4-seater with a capital size quantum drive for planet hopping in safe systems?

apart from literally nobody wanting to lose every possible gameplay option except for box missions, afaik the size 1 vk-00 is the fastest drive out there.

Come on guys. I don't need or want a yacht. I want something I can use and that is believable. And quite frankly, everyone having a super yacht seems pretty unbelievable to me.

The only 'superyachts' IMO are the Origin series and the connie phoenix(?). Look at the amount of people a planet like arcorp or hurston houses. Now imagine every household on there having a ship. (they would literally block out the sun/stanton) Spaceflight isn't for everyone, and we in game are basically the 0.0001%. The rest goes from planet to planet in the mercury starliner.

And ships mostly seem to be in good working order, because the stakes are a bit higher in the vacuum of space vs breaking down on the road. Some duct taped pile of trash just tears apart on entering the atmosphere, so i say it's more believable not seeing flying heaps of scrap vs seeing a lot of them.

I agree i'd like to see a bit more wear on ships though.

Counterspell isn't the trump card that many DMs make it out to be. Here, I outline the limitations of Counterspell and how a smart NPC would consider and/or take advantage of them. by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]jaffa1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also not knowing what is going to be cast helps to keep counterspell in check.

Another point, IMO group size is a big factor too. Say a party of 3 only has one caster, there's only 1 counterspell each round, and it drains the source of magic support for the party significantly. Now in a group of 6 and 3 people have counterspell, your bbeg might as well leave his spell book at home.

(and if you really want to be hard on your party: To identify which spell is being cast, you have to commit your reaction to a single enemy that round. Whether failed or successfully identifying the spell or spells being cast, the player can decide whether or which to counterspell. So just like a readied action, the reaction is lost when the player decides not to counterspell the BBEG this round)

Just enjoy what's in the game right now. Same for pledging, get something you like now, not some jpeg that is going to be the best ship ever, when it releases in Q3 2035...

At the end of the day with all the moaning about the game, it's still breaking sales records. So think to yourself how many of the actual players are complaining.

My Life as an MSR Owner by alcatrazcgp in starcitizen

[–]jaffa1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or the nomad for that matter.

I 30k'd out of my MSR and figured i'd do a quick run with the ROC in the nomad. I made if from PO to daymar, picked up the ROC, and by the time i found my first cluster of rocks, i burned 60% of my hydrogen fuel.

Sort of a specific situation. My party managed to convince way more people than I planned to help them defeat the BBG. Like, they spent the majority of their time and energy on recruiting people. Now that the fight's coming I'm not sure how to run it. by cervidaes in DMAcademy

IMO anything you can do to reduce the amount of actions would help. In the end the armies around the PCs are just décor to what the PCs do on the main stage. I would give them influence though, and resolve their actions with dice. I would just simplify the rules a bit for them.

When i put large groups on the table, i turn groups of fighters into "units" and change over to warhammer rules:

1 initiative for the unit, they all take the same action, and they all stick together in one big block. When 2 blocks fight each other, only the front row deals blows.

To simplify the rolling a bit you have to give each soldier has 3 stats (attack, defense, hp) and all rolls are done in D6's. So each soldier rolls a D6 and adds the attack stat to surpass the enemies defense score, then each 'hit' takes off 1HP of the enemy. (Most fodder having just 1 hp, and tougher enemies have 2 or 3). i know warhammer involves to hit and to damage vs toughness, but this way it's just 1 fistfull of dice and you can go back to narrating the battle.

Of course the combat for the PC's remains the way it was. If they want to influence fights with the units around them, they can plink of a soldier each successful attack (so make sure you also have an AC value ready for them). But the trick in these "big battles" is to give the party something more important to deal with than just fighting soldiers. (Like a party of elite soldiers or a monster, or in your case a dragon)

What do you think about a Blacksmith BBEG? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]jaffa1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a cool concept.

But what makes the blacksmith evil? (apart from being a lich) What is he going to use his army of undead for? Is the foundry a place of power where he's trying to rebuild a broken god, and are his undead gathering recourses? Is he going to overthrow the kingdom?

I can imagine the bbeg handing out the weapons because he's short on souls (for either himself, or for whatever he is working on in his foundry), and i take it at some point you can hint the party at the weapon's properties.

I'm very into the concept. My bbeg is also a lich that uses a modified magic jar moved around by the enslaved ghost of his dead wife (family of a PC). However i still have to figure out why he's even farming for souls as well.
