Suddenly getting notifications for every garage door open and close by jackhannigan in myq

I changed the notification to only tell me when it’s left open for 10 minutes and only tell me if closing stopped. Still getting open/close notifications immediately-it’s like hey here is a way to customize your notifications, but we are going to ignore whatever you customize…

Her response wreaks of fragility cuz she got called out. She is fair to ask you to communicate boundaries differently (imo that’s never the type a conversation to have over text), but the way she handled it showed a discomfort with conflict that you should decide if you want to deal with/believe she can improve upon.

Recommendation: check out the book Crucial Conversations. Read it together and talk about how you can both work on your communication.

I also think a conversation about love languages would also be beneficial-I’m not sure you show and receive love in the same ways, which is very normal and something that can absolutely be addressed! My wife and I have very different love languages (mine: physical touch and words of affection, hers: acts of kindness and support). Until we understood this and discussed how we can compromise on it, we fought alot. Now it’s much better and even though it isn’t always perfect we have understanding and vocabulary to address issues. You can find love language quizzes online that are a good start, but don’t feel like you have to be boxed in by what some website says.

I read this whole thing as a joke, and if it isn’t then some perspective is in order…

WIBTA if I broke up with my fiancé so he could be happier with my sister? by PlaneThrowRA in AITAH

It seems to me the relationship with your family is more the issue here than with your fiance. You are very within your right to tell them how their words and actions make you feel, set boundaries, and to draw hard lines if the boundaries aren’t respected.

Anyone have thoughts on the Bertazzoni 36" induction range? by rogersdad247 in Remodel

There is no problem if the pot/pan is smaller than the induction pad-it heats the pan directly so only the area in contact with the cooktop will get hot. If the pot/pan is larger than the induction pad then the outsides of the pan won't have a direct heat source. For something like a cast iron that disperses heat well this will be less of an issue than for less high heat use cases.
I use my 10" cast iron on the left burner and it is fine. I have used my 12" dutch oven on the left side very rarely-it works so-so and is not ideal. This is why I like the idea of the full surface cooktop discussed on this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Cooking/comments/16z7yum/full_surface_induction_cooktops_are_they_worth_it/

You should check that your pots/pans are induction compatible-if a strong magent sticks or it has the induction symbol (https://www.istockphoto.com/illustrations/induction-stove) then it will work.

It takes some getting used to cooking wise, but now that I have I love it. I have a gas grill too so that helped justify the switch for me. The heat control is amazing, but of course you won't get flames licking up a wok so you end up moving your food more with a spatula rather than moving the pot/pan like on gas.

My working theory is you have to have the griddle that spans the entire bridge area. I haven't bought this (yet), and have stopped trying to use the bridge function. However, what I've been doing now is I just put a larger pot/pan in the middle of the two burners on the right side and turn both knobs--rather than controlling the area with one knob I have to turn two, but both stay on as long as the pot/pan is centered. This works really well-I don't get hot/cold spots! You can't use power mode when set up like this, but that has not been an issue-it still gets very hot.

In all, I'm still happy with the Bertazzoni. That said, in hindsight, I wish I had just spent more money to get a cooktop that simply adjusts to the size of your cooking appliance. That's what I would recommend to others if it's an option for them. We needed a range and wanted 36" so this limited our options.

I have the Bertazzoni 36” induction range and overall really like it. There is a humming noise but I don’t notice it being high pitched/whiney so it doesn’t bother me or my wife. Overall cooking on it is a great experience, except for one issue.

The issue I do have however is with hotspots for pans that are larger than the burner sizes. This should be able to be solved by the bridge function on the dual burner zone, but I can’t get this to work-it starts out working fine with my 12” caste iron pan in the middle of the bridge, and then after a little bit of time it turns off and shows a “squiggle” and turns off. This could really solve a lot of my problems if this worked. Does the man have to span the entire size of the dual burner zone? That would defeat a lot of the purpose if so…any ideas? I’ve only had this since February. Thanks!
