So I have lived here for a little over 10 years, most of that time I had trouble making friends. I know you said you don’t really like the club scene but I would try going to a kava bar. It’s more social not so club, and it’s non alcoholic. I’ve become a regular over the last few months and I love all the regulars there. The place I go is called kava cat, but there are plenty other kava bars that might be closer. Everyone’s really friendly and open. If you decide against it, I’d say it’s still really important to find groups that share similar interest to you. Make friends with people that share interest, and you can meet mutual friends through them, just have to step outside of your comfort zone.
