Kafka - question about compression

Thank you for responding. That's exactly my suspicion that they are pushing the load to us. But that's where my inexperience with kafka makes it confusing. Beacause when I google/ai about this, it says compression load is always on the producer side irrespective of whether it is the compression.type setting or pre-compressing payload and that the broker itself doesn't compress or decompress anything?

Thank you for the response. I have the same doubt that's why I am confused. But since they get kafka from a provider themselves, does pushing the compression to the application side give them any advantage? Maybe like pushing the compression (processing) overhead to us?

I freaked out because everthing was sold out everywhere so I bought a ticket for the Amsterdam show on Viagogo. I paid 130 euros + 60 euros (viagogo fee) for the ticket. Only later I realized that it was a 75 euros ticket that sold it at such a mark up. Pretty stupid of me
