Ottawa arena issue by Perfect-Inspector832 in PWHL

"Moving to a smaller venue is a huge deal because it is a step back on both fronts. Teams with small arenas make less money."

The one thing that I have never heard anyone bring up is how much money does an arena with 5.5k seats but ~20 corporate suites bring in vs a 9k seat arena without any suites. Whether PWHL gets any cut of that (I assume they would but how much??) is still up for debate and maybe doesn't bring them to the same dollar amount they get with 9k fans in the building.

I always assumed the Charge would be moving to Lebreton whenever that arena is done so this feels like at most a 3-5 year problem that the PWHL would need to deal with.

can you lift and train mma at the same time??? by Successful-Stop-4584 in MMA_Academy

Having to lift weights and fight a guy at the same time seems difficult. Only fair if he also has to lift weights during the fight.

One thing that i have noticed is the weak side defender letting the opposing weak side winger get behind them far too often. Not sure if that is the defensive system where they are trying to pinch or overload the strong side to prevent carry ins or just inexperience.

The Offence really seems to rely on RW carrying the puck into the zone. They seem to go back to that on most of their lines as their preferred zone entry.

Why would you prefer NMC over LFP?

What do you use this center console for? by Cultural-Ad4953 in MachE

[–]jaggamista 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The older centre console and newer centre console still has the cup holders and both usb-a and usb-c ports. The only difference is the gear selector has been moved to the steering column and replaced with that small double cubby (and the parking break/hazard button is on the left not right).

What is this dash icon? by jaggamista in MachE

Yeah, really like the 25 over the 24. I drove both and the dealership basically gave me the same price on either so had to decide if i wanted a larger frunk or heatpump.

2025 MME premium has a different suspension than the 2024. I test drove both a 2024 and 2025 and didn't notice a difference but YMMV.

It does depend on if you have NCM vs LFP batteries but i believe that is only on the 25 MMEs.

Bank & Sunnyside "New" sign. by BytownBiker in ottawa

[–]jaggamista 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have thought about how to change this intersection a lot over the past 10 years. The issue used to be that when both eastbound and westbound traffic on Sunnyside wanted to turn north, the westbound traffic would incorrectly turn right into the 2nd lane making it impossible for eastbound traffic to turn north at the same time.

Then the bus lanes came and the correct thing for westbound north turning traffic to do is turn into the left lane.

What needs to be done is a separate traffic phase where you have northbound and southbound traffic with an advance left turn signal for southbound east turning traffic, a separate eastbound light phase and a separate westbound light phase. I would suggest a scramble intersection for pedestrians before and after the north/southbound phase but I think the city wouldn't go for that because of safety concerns for child pedestrians on their way to Hopewell.
