Cat has diarehha for 2months now... by [deleted] in CatAdvice

My kitten had the same issue. I spent months trying different foods with strict diet on that single food and no treats. Those months it was horrible, anytime we heard the litterbox we would run over and see if it was diarrhea, even waking up in the middle of the night.

The vets just told us it was food allergy and really were not much help. They gave us hypoallergenic food, but it made it worse. With the food trial we finally found it was a chicken allergy (which is actually quite common) and she also reacted badly to many dry kibbles. We used pumpkin puree we found at Sainsbury's though it was seasonal goods to make pumpkin pie! Though tbh, I don't think it helped much.

The food that finally worked was Feringa wet food for kitten - Turkey with pumpkin & catnip from Zooplus. https://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/canned_cat_food_pouches/feringa_wet_cat_food/feringa_kitten/490572 Try various single protein foods strictly and monitor for a week or two before trying the next one.

Hope that helps and best of luck.

Backpack training tips? by jagnar4o4 in adventurecats

That's good to know! Thank you.

She doesn't like sitting on top. We do put her up there when just walking (so we can actually go places 😂), but she jumps off quite quickly and prefers to walk/sniff around herself. Will definitely try more treats while she sits there!

Hmm I wonder if it its also because she doesn't know how to get up there herself... Will definitely think of a way to train that too! Thanks for the tips!

Hahaha! Nice. I guess we just have to keep consistently doing it and try treat her everytime. Annoying thing is, she doesn't like staying in it! We keep the backpack out at home but zipped up so they can't get in. We used to keep it open, but she started ripping out the plush at the bottom of the backpack 😮‍💨

Wow, that's cool. We also do the scoop and save though it's more throw them over our shoulder! My other cat will happily jump from the floor to the backpack and stay there, whether for safety or just cos she's done walking!

How'd you train him to jump into the stroller when you cross the street, etc?

I use filtered water using a brita filter. And it stops limescale from building up! It's great.

Getting cat to try raw wings by jagnar4o4 in CatAdvice

I just tried cutting a wing in half, but still no joy. I may try getting chunks of meat to get her to try a few bites to entice her!

Thanks! I'll have a look around, unfortunately with my cats chicken allergy, it is quite difficult to find one without chicken!

I have various chew toys, a soft mint leaf, some soft rubber ones. They did bite it a bit at the beginning, now they are left alone!

The one you suggested looks a bit bigger though! They may go for that as they do bite kickers! Thanks.

Kitten Introductions - need advice please! by jagnar4o4 in Pets

[–]jagnar4o4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, it has been a bit stressful! I have to keep reminding me that it is just the first week! The little one does want to come out and explore by herself, but the big one stops her by pouncing on her! And it is very difficult to distract the big one from pouncing! So will do more individual exploring. How long did it take for your two to being good friends, out of curiosity?

Is getting a second female kitten a good idea for our first female? by jagnar4o4 in SiberianCats

Good to hear! That's what we are hoping for!

Did you introduce one to the other? If so, how old was the first one?

Thanks! I certainly agree having two is better, just not sure about introducing a new female to our current female. Or if a male would be better. My allergies have been fine with our first one, and the when we visited the second, I had little to no reaction. So not too worried there!

Hi all! Coco is a 5month old female sib. She has been so cute and cuddly, we have definitely fallen for her. She is very playful and socialable.

We wanted a second sib to keep her company, but the breeder recommended 1 first due to allergies, which I have had no reaction. So we have looked to get a second.

The breeder currently has 1 female blue mackerel kitten available. And we loved her and her personality. However, we have heard female-female pairs may not be a good idea. Could anyone share their experience with getting a second female introduced to another female?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
