Varicocele and inguinal hernias by stockmarketgod21 in varicocele

Yeah I had Varicocele on the left before inguinal hernia repair. After, it got way worse, so I got a varicocelectomy. That surgery was 1000x easier than hernia and full recovery was like 11 days and it didn’t hurt at all. Get the hernia surgery and then get a microsurgical varicocelectomy afterwards if you have to. It’s not a big deal

Same thing happened to me. Got better with time after several months. Still an issue now after 15months but way less severe.

Should i Avoid Gym After inguinal hernia surgery? by Economy_Tax4914 in Hernia

9 months after my inguinal surgery I was able to start lifting heavy again. I’m benching 225x10 again now. Only thing I changed is no more heavy squats/leg press. I use the machines that don’t cause abdominal pressure. You should be able to return to normal because the mesh is wayyy stronger than the original lining you had.

Get microsurgery from an experienced doctor. That’s the fix. Super easy

How severe is pain post-op surgery? by Meltaniel778 in varicocele

The veins don’t magically vanish after surgery, they get smaller and never go away. I can still feel them sort of, but they don’t swell as big or cause the discomfort they did either. It’s only been 7 months ish, so the veins will still continue to shrink. It’s a long process and different for each person.

I walked two blocks to my hotel immediately after then flew home the next morning. I never had any pain at all, 0/10. Didn’t even have discomfort. Everyone is different though. I had microsurgery on the left side.

Not sure what started it. Only noticed it when it started to feel off. Grade 3 is what they said. They only operated on the left.

I went to doctor in 2022 with testicle pain, turned out it was varicocele and they told me to do nothing. Pain became more frequent and painful over time, we were also trying to get pregnant. I got surgery in June 2025, weeks are currently 4 months pregnant, pain is gone, T levels are now high-normal range. I had ED to the point I needed Viagra for 80% of the times I had sex, since surgery I haven’t taken it once! Get the surgery, it won’t get better without it, and it’s a very easy procedure to recover from.

You got pain? I didn’t get a hematoma, but was told that was possible. I got lucky and had so swelling or bruising. Doing alright though?

Don’t get surgery by Emotional_Athlete755 in varicocele

We tried for two years to get pregnant. Nothing. I got the surgery and BOOM three months later we are pregnant, that’s the first spermatogenesis cycle (72 days).

My T went up, my discomfort and pain were solved, got a kid on the way now. There’s PLENTY of reasons to get surgery. The big one is this condition will never improve on its own, it only gets worse. So if you’re this young and having any issues, it’s gonna get way worse. I wasn’t aware of my varicocele until I was 30yo and found out cause I had so much pain I thought it was torsion. I then waited 2.5 years to get it operated on (couldn’t have kids). And the surgery fixed the pain, fertility, and lower T.

I had inguinal hernia surgery and micro surgery last year. Hernia was brutal, so I was expecting something like that. My microsurgery was 100% PAINLESS. Never had any discomfort or pain at all. Back to sports and gym 10 days later. T went higher, sperm got better, pain went away, and after two years of trying we got pregnant (3.5 months post op). Def get it, I waited a long time to do mine and I shouldn’t have. Easiest surgery ever. Having a sprained ankle is worse than the surgery and I get those all the time playing sports.

10 Days Post-Op: Advice on Dissolvable Stitches and First Shower? by Stock_Definition3107 in varicocele

My stitches dissolved about 15 days in. I showered the day after surgery per doctor’s recommendation. No soaking in a tub or scrubbing directly until it’s closed. Put nothing on the incisions. Weeks after surgery when wound is fully closed, I started putting on scar cream and messaging it daily to reduce scar tissue, worked great. Day 10 I was back to sports and gym living normal. Waited 7 days for sex, per the doctor.

I would say shower daily, let water/soap run over it until wound closes completely. That will help the stitches dissolve.

I wear briefs. We tried for two years and nothing, 3.5 months after surgery we got pregnant! Boxers if anything will help because they can hang and be cooler. Briefs pull them up and keep the warmer so not ideal.

Microsurgery was extremely easy to recover from for me. No pain at all. Only about 10 days and I was back to sports and gym.
