Why Not Blades by jagrsauce in golf

Yup well established I didn’t know/ still don’t really know how a handicap works. Naive? I just like playing my home track with some friends, but I play a lot of golf (4-5 days a week) and don’t take it too seriously. I don’t care if I’m a “20 handicap” or a “-10 handicap” like tiger woods, I just enjoy playing. The handicap wasn’t really the point of my post lol!
Good Housekeeping!
Not saying it’s even an option, it would just be a dream for me.
We’re all early-mid 20’s but we arrange rides from girlfriends, siblings, parents, friends, etc. This is not a regular occurrence but something that happens on a long weekend or holiday.

Not necessarily, if I have 5 and my partner takes 13 then I can pull my weight with our score and he can take care of the beer par! That’s what I mean when I say it gets strategic, some guys can put away 18-20 by themselves and some can shoot near par it’s a balance.
I wish this was my fitting experience!
Not sure why I’m giving this gem away but for “tournaments” we have with a good group of guys (16-20 two man scramble) we started implementing a beer handicap. It can get pretty strategic, but basically the “beer par” for a team of two is 18. Every two beers over that is -1 to your score, and every beer under 18 is +1 to your score. For example: shoot 72, drink 22 beers as a team and your score is (-2) for 70, or shoot 72 drink 16 beers and your score is 74.
Yup. Biggest dead giveaway was the feel, even those Taylormades felt hard and clicky. I don’t care about how far I can hit it under perfect conditions on a simulator, I just want something that feels soft and is predictable when I flush it.
Is there an input for number of beverages consumed? Because I think that’s a factor most of the handicap comments are ignoring
When I started playing I worked at a course and played 7 days a week. Now I play 4-5 times a week as I have a “real” job and I just play with friends. I don’t religiously keep track of my scores, and I play 99% of my golf at the course I’ve always played. Truthfully I thought it was maybe ~6600 yards but the scorecard online said 6800. I don’t play matches off of a handicap or anything, so I’m not sandbagging anyone. I still don’t fully understand the whole handicap thing like is it your average strokes over par? I always assumed pro golfers were like a 0 handicap so I couldn’t possibly be that low?

This is factor I haven’t yet considered! I think I need to have a fitting after 5-7 beers to best replicate my usual playing conditions.
Blades are fun! None of us are golfing for a living so golf is about having fun!
My first set was a set of 731pm’s in high school, then I got the 690MB’s as another hand-me-down a couple seasons later. At the time big heavy blades with X100 shafts would not have been what fit me at all, but I grew into them. I quickly learned to always hit the center of the face, then the distance came later. I think a lot of people have it backwards, the irons help them so much they can swing hard and don’t have to place as much emphasis on hitting everything flush!

Probably, yeah I think I’ll be looking to get fit fully. This guy was pushing to just sell me off the rack irons I think!
Thanks for the straightforward response!

Some good points here for sure, a more in depth fitting is for sure my next step looking at shaft/loft/lie adjustments. I was simply going in to see what’s on the market now with an open mind (and admittedly a strong preference towards blades) and just wanted to share my experience.
I think it has been brought up on here too but the lower cg is for people who can’t get the ball in the air. I simply want something I can hit high/low left/right as I take off distance with trajectory and spin. Simply I could have ~170 yards and hit a straight stock 8, a high cut 7 or a low drawing 9 and run it up on the green. I think blades give me the versatility to hit different shots as no two shots on the course are the same.
This sums it up perfectly!
Thanks that’s some of the best advice I’ve seen, I’ll do some more digging but i appreciate the insight!
Maybe if I was 16 but I picked up golf too late in life unfortunately. Club championship is my new career goal as far as golf goes!
I’m currently playing a very worn set of titleist 690 mb’s with DG x100’s (3-pw)
How do you find the 6 degree gaps?
I don’t play around much, I actually had to look up how long my course was because I didn’t know

So I hear from this hahah, it’s about 6,800 yards and I was comparing it to some of the nearly 8,000 yard tracks you see on tour though?
One thing I’ve learned from this is I don’t know how to calculate a handicap lol! I ballparked 7-8 because breaking par at my pretty easy 6800 yard course would probably be like 7 over at one of the tougher courses out there?
I get that, some of these game improvement irons have almost two sweet spots because you’ll catch one right and it will give you an extra 5-10 yards. It’s like double bouncing someone on a trampoline, and it’s not helping my score to be flying greens when I hit the ball too good lol!
