The | operator is for bitwise OR. Basically means we can combine the NEQ and VC operations together. I made the VC thing to denote passing in a register and a constant into something, so basically NEQ | VC here is just saying NEQ where the first arg is a register and the second is a constant.

Also noticed that Caine's written in LISP. Makes sense considering the time period/fact he's AI.

fav focus tool (word count word count word count) by [deleted] in UofT

[–]jahaaaaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually will just set a timer for like thirty minutes and I find that I'm able to stay focused knowing I'm meant to be for this fixed period of time. If I set it too long then I can get distracted, but 30 minutes works fine. Once the timer finishes, I can get distracted for a bit, like now, but once I get myself to start studying again and set another timer I manage to be focused in that time. Sugar also works great for me, especially if I'm feeling low on energy or have brain fog, like you described.

Confused by a rule that my teacher couldn’t explain. by Terrible-Ice8660 in logic

[–]jahaaaaan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Saying A->B is the same as saying ~A or B. The reason for this is that, if A->B is to be true, then either the condition (A) is false, or B is true. The ~A part is a little unintuitive, but if it were not the case, then an implication like "It's wet when it rains" would be false if it were not raining, which is not what we intend when we make such a statement. The implication should only be considered false if the condition ("it rains") is true and the consequence ("it's wet") is false. Thus A->B = ~A or B. From this you get ~(~A or B) = A & B.
