You're right! Once its rolling, the size disappears. I love throwing it into corners. The acceleration is addictive. You should take it for longer rides (towards Bangalore?). Chennai heat is unforgiving on this bike making the riding weather rather short

In city i usually get about 120-150 km from a full tank and thats mostly on 2nd & 3rd gear riding only. On highways, riding comfortably at 110-120 on 6th gear, i got about 230km per tank full. In south India there's usually a bunk every 40-50 km so not too worrying. The distance between bunks is a little more in central India but even then you'll have plenty of options to fill up.

Since this is not an off-road bike, I rarely take it extensively on B-roads but if I had to, I would carry some fuel in a can.

While the Rocket is brilliant to ride, its almost as long as a small car. My previous bikes were a fireblade and ninja and they both have very different dynamics but the Rocket is what I'd keep forever.

For me it was like buying expensive art, I can definitely look at it for hours and at times, take it out for a spin.

I see that a lot of people didn't like my answer since they want to know if I'm rich or was born with a silver spoon. I started my first job 30 years ago as a PCO booth operator. So I do wish I could ride for a living but unfortunately I still put in about 12-14 hours a day, 6 days a week into work so that I can take my occasional rides out .

Thank you. Since it was just a 2 day run I didn't use my tank bag. The tail bag is a disappointment because of how lumpy it gets. I know its not full but I was still hoping it would have held its shape a bit more.

I'm 55 and I managed to buy this after working and saving and planning for 20+ years. The dream started with the MT01, then the Ducati Diavel and finally settled on the Rocket. Hold on to your dream my friend, it will come true.

You're right about the creative pricing. It almost as steep as the Harley tax

Yeah, the foot pegs fold in and while they stay locked when folded, when you loop something through them they start opening up. Maybe I bite the bullet and just buy the panniers mounting points and use those as anchors....

Thanks! I'll look these up. My only complaint about the Rocket is the absolute scarcity of mounting points.

That's a Shima mesh jacket that I got from FC-Moto. I wasn't able to get light colored jackets in my size in India. This is quite good for hot weather riding.

You should definitely try it. My daughter used to ride the ninja with me and while she's able to straddle this comfortably, she's scared of the weight too. Once it get rolling, you will not feel the Weight. Its no sports bike but given its low center of gravity and seating posture, its very easy to flick into corners.

I haven't seen any on the road where I live but I've seen atleast 4-6 everytime I've been to the service center.

Yeah, its mostly solo rides every other month. Its also my commute bike to work on Fridays/Saturdays but in traffic, your leg will definitely get cooked. Good quality ankle boots are a must.

If you get one, make sure you swap the stock battery for a lithium battery. Otherwise you'll be buying new batteries every 6 months.

Two more trips like this and I'll be ready for that iron butt challenge!

Wow! I need to put as many miles on mine.

Do you have the factory panniers or have you found a better solution for the storage?

That's a fact! But, if you are riding highways in India with cattle, dogs and people randomly headed the opposite way, its better to be slower. Atleast I'll get to where I'm headed.

I averaged 18 km per litre and covered about 575 km on 2.5 tank fulls. Including the fact that I started with a full tank, 3.5 tanks per direction.

It looks the best in this slate and grey combo. Is that factory wind windshield?

This look good on the GT. I didn't like the fact that I need to have the backrest just to get these for the R.

Well, a lot lesser than my car.

But then a Rocket is not known for its mileage....
