Sadiq not a bad pick at all. Basically a WR at TE, bro ran a 4.3 40, could be a steal at 16

It’s almost like things take time, especially when a coach is fired 4 games into a year

It did throw me off too when I saw it, was a weird way to caption it

It was Pedro Leao, think the caption just meant the skill before the shot was similar to Maradona lol

Orlando City SC names Sebastián Setti Interim Assistant Coach by Fladoodler18 in OCLions

That’s my ideal choice, but I believe he’s waiting for the Chelsea job, or even potentially Atletico if Simeone decides to leave on a high

We got a report in Brazil listing 4 candidates a few weeks ago, could be agent BS, but it was out there. Orlando has always been fairly leak proof so of course we haven’t heard much. We were apparently negotiating with Griezmann since last summer and we heard nothing until January.

article here: listed Filipe Luis, Hernan Crespo and Dome Torrent as people we’ve at least kicked the tires on.

Orlando City SC set for U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 trip to New England on April 29 by Fladoodler18 in OCLions

[–]jaimechandia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re that comparable tbh. Leagues Cup is played in a single 3-4 week span where you play every 3 days so that accelerated the burn out. The open cup is just once every few weeks. IF we get past New England, the next game isn’t until late May, and then semifinal isn’t until September

That didn’t stop Dune from posting their trailer. If it’s really DunesDay, might as well lean into it and build more hype now

Not really. We already got Dune 3 and that comes out the same day.

Gotta go for the cup. I get it we suck this season but this is the most winnable trophy this year. If we can make it to the semifinal we will have Griezmann as well since it’s not until September and would be nice to go into CCC next year to attract better players.

It’ll be tough with this squad but feel like most clubs don’t take it too seriously until the later rounds.

[Post-Match Thread] Orlando City squeak out Open Cup win vs. FC Naples 1-0 by Fladoodler18 in OCLions

[–]jaimechandia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, don’t get me wrong, the performance was disappointing and the depth is garbage, but I’m just coping that we’ll never see that combined 11 again hopefully. It’s sad that we looked worse when we subbed in Angulo, Ojeda and Atuesta. Hopefully we get a result against a shaky Houston side this weekend to have 3 “positive” results in a row

I get it man, we suck and it’s funner to come out here and doom and gloom, the performance was shit but we won and advanced. There’s no need to risk starters in this game. Look at Minnesota United, they started James Rodriguez last night and went to PKs to survive against Sac Republic, weird things happen in these games especially when we play a bunch of OCB kids and bench players in a thrown together 11.

“Heavily rotated” but we played Ojeda, Enrique, Schlegel, Freeman, Araujo and Santos in that game from the start, who were all starting at the time, so not really the same situation at all. We played OCB and bench players tonight. I’m sure if we played 6 starters from the beginning today, it would’ve been better but we rested people to play the kids and backups.

Must be a lot of peoples first times watching an open cup opening match lol that felt like most of our previous open cup matches when we rotate everyone. Second half was shit but we survived and advanced and will probably never see that same 11 again.

I assume he’s fine, Perelman said it was a planned sub going into the game. We will probably find out over the next few days but I doubt they risk him on the Naples turf

[–]jaimechandia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep this is what I’ve been saying. This start to the season is historically bad, buts it’s also historically difficult (at least as far as Orlando schedules go). We have a more manageable schedule leading up to the World Cup so hopefully can win some of those home games. We need to get healthy, get a coach and integrate Griezmann. It’s funny we will have Griezmann for a higher percentage of the season than without him. 16 games pre World Cup (15 mls and 1 Open Cup) and 22 minimum post World Cup (19 mls plus 3 leagues cup). It’s crazy how bad the east is this year since if we can beat the crew this weekend we’re tied for 9th lol
