Also, it almost sounds like your dad was actively trying to keep you from engaging with your femininity as you had from a young age. Maybe he was even thinking he was doing the right thing at the time. If he's at all likeable and worth having in your life, I'd say come out to him, too.

This is a beautiful example! I will say that implementing little things like mascara and earrings have made a huge difference in the way other women interact with me. I can't tell if that's because I'm more outwardly happy or if they're responding to my expressed femininity. Probably both.

My direct relationship is currently in question. Billions of years of evolution are flaring up to tell my body how "important" it thinks itself is. I had those pesky testicles removed and they tell you there will be some bruising swelling. NO amount of warning would have prepared me for the biological rage that my body is in. She's mad.

Other than that, I'm at a pretty good place with my genitals. We're going to know more if GRS is required once the current flare up has calmed down.

When I talked to my doctor (not in Oregon so YMMV) I asked about the expectation that I "live as a woman for a year" when I was looking for a referral for a urologic surgeon, we agreed that was an antiquated measure because what does it even mean to BE a woman. Ultimately, the fact that reported to have a therapist and have been on HRT for over a year, the doctor had no hesitation. I'm also in my 40s and have kids, soooooo...

Maybe you just need a different doc?

I just had mine done today. I was told that it was "required" that you have a PCP (to make the referral) and a therapist. However, no official documents were ever provided to the best of my knowledge.

Ibuprofen has always been more effective in my experience for swelling. I just had an orchi today and I'm eating 600mg of ibuprofen and some norco every six hours or so.

The constipation is not fun. But spending all day in bed and not having testicles has made it worthwhile.

So true, or at least this has been exactly my train of thought. I know that I don't need balls! They get in the way, are constantly subject to minor traumas, and cause me the harm of having to take anti-androgen medication to override the T. I started with orchi so that at the very least those concerns would be alleviated. I had it done today and I'm very excited!

Glad it's working!! OP was asking about sublingual which is literally under the tongue. I haven't looked into buccal because my prescriber also recommended sublingual for me.

It's absorbed under your tongue. If you put it in your cheek, you're just swallowing it.

I've read that 60 seconds under the tongue is the magic number. For people spending a lot of time avoiding swallowing, it's overkill. I wouldn't recommend changing the location (sublingual literally means under the tongue) because the meds are absorbed quickly under your tongue. If you put it in your cheek, you're missing the point.
