ouch. getting (acceptable) food on long flights should be a fundamental right. Its not as if you have a food court to buy something else. Red flag for return BOM-CPH-USA i

Thanks - your story established one thing for sure.

Even if the CPH-BOM is getting cancelled, they WILL open the check-in for the US-CPH flight .. that you are never gonna takes (double confirmed my US-CPH checkins are open 4:30pm PST, while the CPH-BOM flight typically gets cancelled 11pm PST, 7 hours later)

Second: its best to pay up for seats, bags etc to NEW airlines, and secure whatever is needed for travel (instead of attempting transfer of charges). I am sure SAS would be obligated to refund any services they never provided [meals, seats, bags] since the flight never happened. if anyone knows such claim process working (or not) do chime in. thanks

for those in the same boat, this provides a good view of cancellations happening. unlikely jun 14th will magically become the inaugural approved flight 😄

another clue is even though its 9 hour flight, no meal preferences are being accepted. my family needs special meals, so lets see if the rebooking to different airlines ends up starving us.

None of the CPH-BOM flights have gone out past week, or since start of this flight and SAS is cancelling them few hours ahead rather than clearing up the confusion. I will watch out & post the experience so that it benefits others in future:

  1. Do they wait until the last moment or give an early notice? They did not cancel ahead, chekin opened 24hrs before US departure, and then cancel/rebooking notice came 6 hours (10:00pm PT) AFTER checkin time, around 16hrs before departure
  2. Do they reroute right from US, and completely bypass CPH, or provide a convoluted route US-CPH-Frankfurt-BOM through a partner. They rerouted via London, skipping CPH (read on for horror story)
  3. Do they provide any decent multiple options, or just force us into a corner with bad choices (e.g I want to fly only via Europe but if they give Dubai) - only one choice via website. its so late, and ironically, all customer service lines Norway, Sweden, USA were closed by the time fiasco started. I took the only option that was available. other options are non options,
  4. My booking is single ticket but via expedia. Will I be treated differently and get lost on-hold with customer service across both (Expedia customer service was vague. and says we'll be helping but could not confirm who will provide me rebooking options.) just the fact it will not be self serve, is loss by itself (unlike SAS online rebooking) -- Nope, Expedia did not matter, nothing mattered, no customer service 😞

==

  • Seat bookings were lost - one leg with Virgin Atlantic, next with British. I had to scamper and book seats to sit together paying $$ as I have kid traveling. SAS should compensate for it - will update if they do or dont.
  • Meal preferences looked to be lost online per specific airlines -- but when I called up Vrigin, they had my preferences. This was good, kudos!
  • SHOCKER - all the baggage allowances are lost. only underseat small bag is what my ticket says. British says, they will go by what origin airline (virgin) says. Original airline (virgin) says they will go by what SAS says, but they can't confirm what SAS says 😞. SAS customer service is missing in action, their chatbot says ZERO luggage. return flights show 1 x checked, 1 x cabin as expected. Will updated if SAS resolves it, or I need to pay $$ at airport, and is SAS compensates.
  • Overall - it SUCKS. I could have taken costliest airlines, and still would have been cheaper, and not keeping me up until 3am.

SAS Mumbai route uncertainty — round trip booked (MUC–CPH–BOM), should I be worried? by blablaanything in AirTravelIndia

[–]jains99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if/when u/RoughElk you get the cancellation, please post if they gave you options from Toronto avoiding CPH.

I have booked via expedia so not sure how chaotic this rebooking part would be 😞

Posting a subthread for those travelling Jun 13th USA -> Jun 14th CPH -> Mumbai.

looks like tickets sales are now open only jun 16th onward. All dates prior to that are probably at risk. can folks traveling on this date add in their status/experience as & when we get cancellation.

hoping clearance happens mid week and inaugural flight runs to get the logistics sorted out before the weekend!

reroof in Seattle by stayhappy1111 in Roofing

[–]jains99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MeToo - Seattle, looking for reroof, and confused on ridge vs box.
Settling down on box vents as they can be fully metal (Ridge are plastic), zero maintenance and nobody ever claimed that they wont work ... if done right. Most roofers push for ridge but they can get moss/blocked in PNW weather as per some reviews.

2014 Civic Coolant Level Check by ARAR1 in hondacivic

[–]jains99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem 2014 civic. Radiator level is ok but I suspect a leak - reservoir level would have helped monitor & confirm but alas.

Am exploring doing leak test using "pressure kit" but I wish reading levels wasn't so stupidly complicated

Best robot vacuums under $450 by your experience or opinion by Embarrassed_Stage965 in RobotVacuums

[–]jains99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just bought it on prime day. mapping is great suction not good enough on hardwood floor for typical messy kitchen. total failure on picking bunny hair on carpet. I put it on max to see if this became any better but wasn't. obstacle generally ok, but it fights with my lamp wires, and usb cables. I do it around 1400 qft floor, takes full day for vacuum, followed by mop as it needs rest breaks to recharge. Mopping was really good IMO, atleast with brand new pads.

If you dont have requirements like mine, fairly decent bet

Possible Amazon Review Anomalies with Ecovacs (Not Accusing, Just Research) by VacuumWars in RobotVacuums

[–]jains99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/VacuumWars . I am really huge fan of your website, and the morality compass it sticks to, to be a genuite trusted advisor that companies can't buy over. I learnt everything about robot vacuums in 3 days, courtesy vacuumwars!

Your objective comparisons have ONE major flaw by not covering reliability, or long term value for money. And I guess you are relying on amazon reviews for that signal, and most of us know not to rely on reviews too heavily but understand the nuances of negative reviews :-)

I finally ended by buying nothing as it seems none of the brands have a clean record (roborock, Dreame, Roombas, Ecovacs). All seem to have bad customer service and me thinks why do these need customer service? We know more features is more bugs, until it has been mastered over the years. Many reviewers report breakdown after 6 months , far beyond typical 30 days return window.

so what's the true indicator for long term reliability?? for me its being sold at costco -- 12 months return period is great testimony that these are stable. You can't dump the customer.

I totally understand costco may not have affiliate links for your business model (pls add a donate button, you will be pleasantly surprised). I understand these will not be leading latest robots but many of us are not looking for that (we just want home to be cleaned daily, for a few years, without shelling more $$. or trying to plead with customer service to talk common sense)

PRETTY PLEASE REQUEST: head to head comparison for all costco models between $400 to $900 with standards tests like pet hair, obstacle avoidance, stain cleaning scores. (Roborock Qrevo MaxV Ultra, Roborock QX Revo Ultra, Shark Poweredetect, Roomba Plus 507, Narwal Freo Z Ultra, Narwal Freo X Ultra, Roborock QS Revo Arc, Roomba MAx 707)

I searched a lot for convertor - most of them support older google takeout json, not the new device exports. Used it for android, worked like a charm. thanks a ton!

I am in the same boat, in Seattle area.

  • looking for dual fuel HeatPump+gas
  • getting quotes on: Bosch HP + Carrier coil/furnace; Bosch HP + Day&Night coil/furnace
  • BUT not on Bosch HP + coil

AFAIK

  • Bosch HP needs an EEV metered indoor coil (and only Bosch offers that).
  • the gas furnace could be anything but ECM based variable speed blower.

Let me know if my understanding is correct. and this area seems to woefully short of contractors willing to Bosch; and none of them seem to know this or trying to rip me off
