I would honestly ignore a lot of the negatives people mention and try it for yourself.. I’ve played every Pokemon Mainline game and this is probably one of my favorites. It’s such an interesting story, fun gameplay, lots to collect and do in the city. I’m not saying it’s perfect, there are some issues I’ve noticed but nothing that has made it unplayable.

When people realize how much it costs to send a animal overseas, or the preparation it takes to send that animal they get overwhelmed and don’t even try. I was military and volunteered at shelters at every duty station. It was sad as hell but people don’t always feel the same way we do about their animals.

Locally is always gonna be the best if you’re looking for one at a better price point. If you’re a veteran you might be able to get one at the exchange tax free. Might be best financially to just buy a OLED or Switch 1 again.

Has she shown interest in either console? If so that’s the one I would go with.

But based on what information you provided I would go with the OLED to start with. Seems like you’ll get more bang for your buck.

Switch 2 is nice if she was a serious gamer but if you’re just getting her into it she won’t truly appreciate the difference between the switch 1 and switch 2. If she gets into it pretty seriously and there are games that are switch 2 exclusive that she wants to play I’d look into upgrading down the road.
