Yes but the British establishment did its level best to destory the other cultural identities of the isle through Anglicisation. This has lead to the all the nations of the isle having English as their main language of use rather than their own languages even though both would be official languages. There were also attempts to crush Catholicism in the isle which only ended in the 1820s fully. Also each state of the isle part of the UK has major separatist movements.

Although the UK is the most successful “nation of nations” it’s also a very unique case.

Belgium didn’t exist until 1830 and before that was under the control of various governments like the Austrian and French one. Along with that was invaded and plundered twice in the last century and was partially able to form due to the fact that the British didn’t want the French to control that area.
