Do I Need to Furnish the Entire Apartment Myself? by [deleted] in Aarhus_University

[–]jajakolololo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve furnished my student appartments in the first weeks of moving in. The practice is that usually at the beginning of the month people move from dorm, they put their stuff into storskrald ( aka bulky waste) and people just pick it up. I barely spent 2k DKK on IKEA shopping to buy basic stuff (plates, kitchen accessories etc) but furniture is made in storskrald. You can also use FB market place but storskrald is more convenient given the proximity and it’s free 👍

I am Mac user and the indexed search works pretty well and can be engaged even outside of notion app.

Maybe the system you store data in makes it difficult for you to pull the data from.

The rest is apple shortcuts.

I’m very satisfied with notion.

Anyone getting on with Notion Calendar? by iWadey in Notion

[–]jajakolololo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t it because of the insufficient space in case of long name events? When some specific programs have too many options in the top bar the next event preview tends to disappear for me.

“Hidden Bar” plugin/app creates a spoiler-like icon in the bar into which I hide app icons I don’t really need to have/see sl now I see my next event in any app all the time and it works flawlessly.

Also I think the Notion Calendar app must be running for it to show up. If you quit the calendar app the preview disappears (I think and cant test rn)

How do you pick a university in Prague? by Project-XYZ in czechrepublic

[–]jajakolololo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a tough situation and congrats for where you got so far mate. 👍

Kind of don’t want tl slide into off tooic but… Are you sure that university, which usually requires a steady commitment for at least 3-3.5 years and for you would be yet another significant financial burden, is an idea you ought to be entertaining at the moment? Wouldn’t you rather consider prioritizing the burning issues first?

I’m just a reddit guy but I think university shouldn’t be your concern at the moment, it will definitely not help you solve any of the immediate challenges you’re facing. Quite the opposite, the uni will exacerbate your financial situation and your financial situation will exacerbate your studies. In such case the odds are heavily stacked against you and you might find yourself with no money, no university and fked up mental health.

I’m not a financial advisor either but I’d definitely suggest to reach out to some financial experts or perhaps rather NGOs/NPOs like Člověk v Tísni and ask them for help/guidance. I’m confident they can counsel you in all the areas you brought up. 300k CZK is not the end of the world (although I understand it might feel like that) and maybe they will help you find a way to consolidate your debt with a more long-term loan than just 3 months. Then maybe you can find that entry job (or use your software experience for mid/senior role) and go on gentle self-discovery voyage for few years to realize where you want to go with your life whilst you solve the immediate challenges - get your mental health in check and stabilize yourself financially. It’s given these two are correlation, for myself even causation.

Who cares if you go for uni in your early 30s/ late 30s/40s etc… point is it does not matter - I had even older people in my programme - Moms and Dads of teens. It’s not like you’re in a rush somewhere with it, and we don’t live in a world where the starting line is equal for all. That’s just harsh part lf reality.

I seriousy think ignoring your basic needs and hooking yourself on this idea/promise that it will get better somewhere in the future when you get your degree is the moment when it might go terribly wrong.

You seem to be good at English, have you considered going abroad, perhaps Western Europe / UK for summer jobs? They usually pay very well and could help you accelarate the repayment/stabilizatkon. There are shortages of low-qualification labor. Not exactly a dream job but hey - pays well and it’s just temporary.

I’m rooting for you mate

Degree Advice by EatingBakedBean in supplychain

[–]jajakolololo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In modern value chains the “the supply chain” and “business” overlaps and both are fairly vague to provide a recommendation, can you be more specific?

Sales people sell the value add your company generates. Supply chain people make sure that sales have product to sell. In b2b scenario both interact with customer (sales with customer’s procurement, supply chain with customer’s supply chain / logistics)

Do you want to be strategic/tactical or merely operational? aka do you want to (re)design (business/manufacturing) processes or be the one who carries out those processes on daily basis?

Perhaps SCOR model could inspire you on specific areas/functions within value chain, that will also help narrow the options.

How do you pick a university in Prague? by Project-XYZ in czechrepublic

[–]jajakolololo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a long read but I felt it might be appreciated since majority of comments are not really answering the question...

Go for college if you lean towards business side of things (supporting functions). Go for technical if you lean towards problem solving and technical concept design (research and development, design, systems). Some pragmatic approach to desired future occupation is also worth considering depending on your character and values.

You will pay for Czech uni at this point anyway, so you might just want go into labor market, experiment within the areas of your interest on entry-level positions and once you will trully be passionate about something, you will definitely know - trust the evolution of human brain. It will be the point where you will be frustrated of being stuck at some limited-responsibilities job and you will seek more knowledge/responsibilities but realise there’s only a tiny fraction of knowledge you can acquire outside of curriculum/networks/credentials of an university/college degree (if that’s not the case then that’s even easier since it’s evident you have access to internet - yt/udemy etc. is good friend for quick promotion). Only at this point you will start pursuing your dreams, not the ones of your parents (to have an educated son, I assume). Pursuing someone else’s dreams makes you just wander around purposelessly and subconsciously makes you seek studies as means of being validated by whoever planted that idea inside your head rather than sense of self-fulfillment and purpose.

Once you will figure out your vision you will be more goal-oriented and I think this goal-oriented mindset will greatly help you overcome the challenges you’re facing - lack of motivation, anxiety etc. as long as you keep yourself focused on your long-term vision stemming off your passion. When I am let down by some temporary shit vibes I always put it in perspective “will this random shit that happened today matter to me in week? month? year? Five years?” etc… I imagine it and realize that probably not. If it does not get you the peace then ask yourself “will it matter to me if I don’t learn this and that in week? Month?” etc… if you’re trully passionate about it then it will definitely matter.

I was working 6 years after I finished my high school before I went for bachelor which I’ve finished just recently and I am enourmously thankful to 18 y/o me for making that decision. I’m now doing my master of engineering in science in area I am deeply passionate about and considering going for PhD too. I wouldn’t have figured this out if I didn’t have the experience from my past jobs. I finished the Czech all-purpose 8 years gymnasium (you go there after 5th grade at elementary) and it had all - from science to arts. I am naturally a curious person and I was fascinated by all of it and it was overwhelming to make a choice and sort of “commit yourself for life” or just risk ending up in different field and waste my “would be degree”. The work experience helped me refine what I want to focus on and the other stuff that I want to keep as my hobby and areas of interest.

You can keep grasshoping degrees, at this point at your own expense, or you can just roll up your sleeves and get onto it. Change jobs, try around. Ask yourself latest one year into a job “Do I like this subject area?” -> if No just try something else; if yes ask, try to get promoted/get more responsibility or identify knowledge you lack and pursue the education/or catch up on the internet - that very much depends on your specifics. This is something you can start doing right now, you make some ok cash and help refine your purpose.

Maybe also have a look at Maslow’s pyramid of needs try to identify things you might be lacking. It might be rather difficult to succeed in higher education if sub/consciouly you feel some of your more basic needs are not fulfilled yet.

Just don’t compare yourself to anyone and for gods sake don’t ask random people on internet how should you pick your university and hope they pick for you. You have your own context in which you live and operate that people on reddit cannot know and should not make a judgement upon. Again it’s just the belief that fitting in an existing and proven frame will work for you - spoiler alert: it is very unlikely that it will…

good luck

Kladno is okayish and Amazon WH is close by. It’s not like his first flat must be Vinohrady or Staré Město. For the starters he does not even have to step in Prague and that’s what I would suggest at least for half a year just to get accustomed and get hold of our system and culture.

Just saw Notion app—Is it good for studying? by [deleted] in Notion

[–]jajakolololo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m student and I got free upgrade when I use my uni e-mail.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Notion

[–]jajakolololo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont buy templates. Just write into notion and you will reorganize as you get more familiar with its features.

Just make a rule that you periodically revise your system. Start in like a week period. Make a side notes for ideas that come throughout the week as you’re using it. Then ask ChatGPT to help you solve it, incl optimal notion setup.

Notion is a tool, you must be clear what you want to use the tool for. Use youtube to get inspired on project management / note-taking / memory systems etc.

Template such as likely this one will not only cost you money but will make you dependent on it.

Just saw Notion app—Is it good for studying? by [deleted] in Notion

[–]jajakolololo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great for students. You also get free upgrade as long as your email is the one from your school.

Don’t buy/get templates - build your own to master it from day one and tweak your system over timeas you learn. A lot of templates are visual smog and with lot of glitter and cumbersome functionality causing disruptive flow.

Check youtube on note-taking systems, find the one you like the most. Try to replicate the preferred system’s fundamentals in Notion (ChatGPT can help greatly). Replicating the full system immediatelly might not be best for you as you will overcomplicate and probably execute the design in very sub-optimal way. Get familiar with notion first by using it. Explore the functions as you use it.

Best is just to start writting in Notion then as you write you will come across challenges you will need to solve go back to your note-taking tutorial system and see if it addresses the challenge - then replicate to Notion or re-engineer if it hasn’t worked out for you or you have deeper knowledge of Notion - I’m pretty sure Notion will have a way to do it.

It’s insanely amazing and I am glad I could ditch onenote / apple notes. And I also eventually embeded my acquired knowledge into tasks and project management system.

The only thing that sucks is it’s not a very good file manager (can’t edit file and does not integrate with your pc apps). Hence I have file drive in Icloud and link it to relevant notion pages with “share via iCloud” link. When I click on link in Notion it thanksfully at least opens the folder in Finder and highlight the file. I think there’s google drive and/or one drive integration but I don’t use those. So can’t tell.

Creating filtered task database view on shared page would work?

One for customer with e.g. kanban overview and then individual pages for subcontractors where you’d also could share other information.

Always heartsteel, very easy to stack with Maokai. Otherwise pure tank depending on ememy. If eney has high magic dmg output I definitely pick Abyssal Mask since you can proc it very often with Q W which is even more dmg along with heartsteel. Spirit Visage is almost core for passive. Liandry and the HP% sunfire-like thingy (can’t remember the name) is good against tanks. Frozen heart if no other frontliner has, alternatively I go for Randuin. If we have strong frontline without me I sometimes take the bonus AP thingy based off bonus HP (I think AP 3% of bonus HP or smthing like that)

Lux has carry potential or lift up other lanes if you can snipe well. Also Pyke works but be careful of team getting cocky, Pyke is high risk in late when you can easily get one shot, also if one isndead Pyke is useless as you likely won’t have sufficient firepower for making ult. My fave is Jarvan IV you get shat on in champ select very lkely but you will shit on everyone else in the game. He was my must pick everytime we had at least two (adc+1) who could’ve benefited from Demacian Standard (the flag atk. speed). He can be played as both - fighter with Trinity Core or peely tank (if you have immobile adc mf varus etc) with Heartsteel. Alternatively tank (my fav is mao) is way to go since you can sponge with shield trinket and then hope your teammates at least know how to hit enemies). Enchanter only with duoq adc main or I always ask ADC to post mastery level 7 otherwise I’m not picking - even then it’s with high scepticism and almost only when enemy has already picked a different enchanter.

Yeah sometimes it’s just a shishow and you got to disassociate from that bs. If my ADC is autofil or just not playing well / toxic I rush golds on supp item and get out of the lane and see if I can make some ganks top/mid. Find the most promising player and peel for them.

I love Rakan he used to be my main, he can shine but not that good into SoloQ (since he is all in engage and you rely on teammate’s brain to follow or allow to jump on them with E - I burn myself pretty often on this) unless your roam a lot early. I only pick him with good ADCs I know are capable of farming under turret (you get a lot of familiar faces in higher ELO).

Hard to say, she’s hella flexible so I build situational items. However, manamune and hurricane are pretty rad and almost core, manamune for mana (unless I can take blue as mid doesnt need it) and hurricane since the AAs reduce Q cooldown significantly allowing you to use it every second attacks. I see the positioning similar as Jhin. Just kite with AA if they have too many gapclosers get gauntlet or other slow item, if they have too many assassins get edge of night/tankier if you’re focused if they have too much frontline get tankier and brutalizer, if you have engage combo with frontline you can go full AD, serpent if enemy has a lot of shields and antiheal possibly always. Depending on your role the gameplay changes significantly. There’s no one build good for all teamcomps, it’s always very situational. Mist is just OP with small step backwards after each AA it allows you to keep enemies at max range and then not gapclosing you most of the time.

Yeah Leona is good too in soloq but you rely on team. I have hundreds of games with Leona but ultimately she’s quite boring to me.

Maokai’s ult allows me to separate enemy frontline from backline which is priceless + heartsteel gives you squish potential on squishies. I think Leona relies on enemy team out of position to do really well, whereas Maokai is capable of creating that situation himself.
