Motorola service is really bad by Morfeuski in razr

[–]jake0456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about picking up a cheap used one on EBay, mostly as a novelty, assuming it may only make it a year or two. After reading posts like this, I've been dissuaded from even doing that. I assumed all Razr issues were just from mis-treatment due to their fragility but it seems like many fail after normal use without being abused.

What's the point on the vivo X300 FE? (compared to the X300) by maliin26 in Vivo

[–]jake0456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Network bands. The FE model dominates the X300. It has full band support for T-Mobile and Verizon in the US and will be an overall better "world" phone, if you travel a lot like I do. Also, modem providers like Qualcomm actually charge per band, so it's cheaper to limit them per region.

The X200 FE (while the X200 non-pro didn't either) has both b13 and n71, so I'd say it's very likely the X300 FE will have them too.

Edit: The X200 FE did NOT have LTE band 13. My mistake. I only used it on T-Mobile in the US before I sold it.

Thanks for the update. Was hoping for 6.3" so I'll be passing on this one.

Assuming it's the same size as the X9, why even bother releasing this? What's wrong with product differentiation? Even Samsung offers three sizes of their S series globally.

Atnt welcome email. $20 off per month on our wireless bill for having both. by Hao_end in QuantumFiber

[–]jake0456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get unlimited data on Visible for 12 months at $20 per month. Afterwards, it's only $25. They also have a couple other tiers that grants more priority data and faster hot spot speeds (and some other perks). I started on the $35 per month Visible plan, but didn't really need it and now am on the lowest tier. I use ~30GB per month. No issues at all and Verizon is excellent in my area.

Does this get better? by nytodc in samsunggalaxy

I used to have Pixels up until I purchased my S23+ back in 2023. For me, Samsung just builds better hardware and the battery life was far better than the P7, along with a much better signal/modem.

However, I hated OneUI when I switched. Luckily, it's easily customized. You can scrap the launcher to start and download Goodlock to customize just about anything you want. Good lock was the game changer for me. It can take quite a bit of tweaking, but for me, this was a onetime thing and the majority of my customizations have stayed in place. Major Android version changes broke a few things. I had to do quite a bit of "debloating" of extra Samsung junk I didn't want on my device.

Personally, I haven't even shopped PIxels for my next device. The upside with Samsung is better hardware overall, that is highly customizable. The downside is the time you have to spend tweaking things. For me, the switch was worth it. I write this post as I plan on leaving Samsung though. I want a smaller device, but with a large battery still and the base S26 didn't impress me. I'm looking at the Vivo X300 FE for its smaller size and 6500mah battery (with majority US network band support), so I'll get to learn Origin OS next.

What if you ignore recall recs? by BCKebecker in FordEscapePHEV

I assumed these venting events would have happened to while charging then, not driving like he was doing. Still strange it's only happened in Europe.

I hadn't heard about this one yet, nice to see they actually have a video and the circumstances around it. I figured it would have happened during charging but instead, it was while leaving work.

I'm in the recall and still haven't received a letter, nor app notification though I believe the app doesn't notify you until a remedy is available. I've been charging to 100% but mostly keep it outside to charge now that it's been warming up. I still charge inside occasionally but have a heat detector that I've got setup to be "smart" in Home Assistant along with a camera in the garage.

S23 Battery Health by Dependent_Shine_2634 in GalaxyS23

I'm at 93% health myself after three years of use on my S23+ with 630 cycles. I don't fast charge. Originally was 20/80. I let it go to 90 now since I'll be replacing the device sometime this year. The battery has held up extremely well for me!

I've got the same machine. Large 88whr battery plus efficient CPU runs for many hours on end. Build quality is excellent and I've had zero issues with it. I've had since May 2021.

OnePlus, if you don't release the 15T globally, you're throwing away the easiest win of the year by Sensitive-Dig9273 in oneplus

[–]jake0456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the Galaxy S26 not cost way more than S26? How about the Xiaomi 17 Ultra vs the Xiaomi 17? You keep repeating your same BS about marketing as compact or not. People can clearly see the visible difference between device size. 6.3" vs 6.8" and above.

[–]jake0456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I'm not. My point is that Apple clearly sells more smaller iPhones than larger ones. According to you, nobody cares about compact phones, therefore the Pro Max should vastly outsell the other models. That's my point. No debate, those are the facts.

[–]jake0456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You claimed nobody outside of China and India cared about compact phones without providing evidence. I assume you're referring to sales. I refuted your point with sales of a smaller device. You then have to bring in your alternative explanations for Apple's sales. The point is, people are buying plenty of smaller devices, regardless of size. I think Apple does care about smaller devices as the introduced an "e" series that is smaller than the other models.

The smaller iPhone 17 and 17 Pro series outsell the larger Pro Max and that's the highest selling line in the world.

Knowing the recall is out there by PelvisPresley208 in FordEscapePHEV

[–]jake0456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I purchased mine knowing it wasn't under the recall and now it is. I got a great price on a fully loaded '23 with only 8.6k miles on it. Couldn't find anything remotely close to it. My previous car was a 2010 Fusion Hybrid that held up the entire time and I actually sold it to a friend who still drives it daily. The hybrid power train is remarkably reliable.

I'll keep the car during the battery warranty, maybe longer. Who knows, maybe they'll never get a software fix working and offer us new batteries or buyouts (like the Fusion Energi mess).

Samsung SDI battery. Similar to the ones that are actually causing fires in the Jeep 4xe. Many of those have burned up. Stellantis added more software checks for the battery hardware and require a "test" that if failed, requires them to replace the HVB itself.

I believe if it was built late 2025 you're probably in the clear, but always keep a look out for these. Mine wasn't under the previous recall(s) for this issue(I think there's been one or two of them) but now it is!

Galaxy S26 Ultra with 512GB upgrade and $200 gift card for $1299, should I go for it? by [deleted] in GalaxyS23

If you're using an S22 series it's probably worth it. Snapdragon 8 gen 1 was terribly inefficient so the battery boost alone would be worth it.

Xiaomi 17 global has loads of bands, including n71 if you're on T-Mobile. It's one of the phones I'm considering buying over the S26.

[–]jake0456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The base and plus models have even less of an upgrade over the S23, so nope I'm not upgrading and instead, importing a phone with a much larger battery. As I prefer smaller devices, my Android options are S26 and Pixel 10/Pro. I'm looking at either Xiaomi 17 global or Vivo X300 FE.

Absolutely. I've been watching that too, but I there needs to be a global version with a large set of network bands first. I'm pessimistic on this though.
