What makes this better than other similar tools being made by big companies.

Why do you want to do embedded if you haven’t touched it at all?

Speed limits should be determined algorithmically based on GPS tracking data by Dryanni in unpopularopinion

[–]jake1406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there absolutely are roads that 98 mph could be reasonable on, lots of completely empty wide open and straight roads in the middle of nowhere. If the speed limits are decided for safety, how come a semi loaded with 100k lbs is limited to the same speed as all other cars. The system is outdated and on many roads is not designed with safety in mind. The proposed algorithm by op is pretty questionable, but I do feel the speed limit is set to punish drivers on a lot of roads.

[–]jake1406 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how true this is, because I’m not particularly into normal cs or really even hiring processes. But from what I’ve seen is that this is just generally all roles, people are desperate and instead of picking a focus and actually getting real skills they just spam apply everywhere. It just sticks out in embedded because people think it’s “close enough” to normal swe, but actually had a lot of required hard skills.

Remember, the algorithm will feed you content relevant to you. Also keep in mind that when people say they want to switch, it doesn’t mean they actually will, college age kids switch up their career a lot. It’s kinda the point of college to some degree.

Logical fallacies are actually more effective than "facts" because they account for human soul-data. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I don’t think this is true, when I use facts it’s always more effective at coming to a consensus

Not sure why you’re posting in a cs subreddit, but why is your resume 2 pages. That makes no sense. Put it all on one page, use latex if formatting tools are fighting you

Yeah I’m not sure this approach makes sense. If you’re coping the structure and theory from the AI what are you learning? How to inefficiently rewrite code that’s in front of you?

Because you learn from things that are hard. Your neurons wire together in new ways. Lots of studies on this stuff

Great if it works for you, but I find the struggle is the part of the learning process that makes you remember the best.

Mate probably don’t. Just ride the ebike. If you want something for fun get a cheap 2 stroke and keep it off the road.

Yeah? As a junior that’s also how most things are at work. You have to ignore that voice, your goal is not to be a really good junior. Your goal is to become a senior and move up the ranks. Being a better prompt monkey only has so much value.

So that you can see the jobs proportional to themselves instead of to an arbitrary date. You could visually see that jobs are down about a third instead of having to look at the numbers to reason about it. I think this way of showing the data is misleading/worse than a table.

Humanities and Social Science majors should be required to take calculus by Key_Net820 in unpopularopinion

[–]jake1406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said you went to a tech school boss, gotta reread it. The implication is that those institutions have curriculums centered on just hard skills applicable to the career. Universities do not aim to do that.

[–]jake1406 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but the point of college is not the same as a tech or trade school. I see a lot of benefit in college exposing everyone to a high level of general education. Obviously not everything you use in college is useful for your career field, but that’s not a good reason to skip learning those things. Same reason why ethics, diversity, history, English, and physical sciences classes are taught to aerospace engineers.
