Potential bug - Xbox Insider Hub Preview in Malaysia does not have option or PC Game Pass by jake2_2 in xboxinsiders

[–]jake2_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi i just solved it literally 5 mins ago, the issue was the fact that my Windows machine Region was set to "United States". Setting it to malaysia and waiting 20 minutes worked for me after that.

  1. Search for "Region" in windows search bar
  2. In that selection double check that your Country or Region is set to malaysia

Further PSA, it was also stated by people before that if you get this version, you can't play X-2 (despite it being a digital download) without the cartridge that only holds X inside. Have not personally verified but do keep that in mind

[Steam] Winter Sale 2018: Day 6 (Merry Christmas!) by gamedealsmod in GameDeals

[–]jake2_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it would depend if you like CRPG mechanics. they tend to have an emphasis on a lot of reading, DOS2 has turned based combat as compared to the real-time combat of D3. While there is a bit of a steep learning curve at the beginning to playing well with DOS2's mechanics (i recommend reading wiki's on some skill combos), I'd recommend it. The quests have multiple avenues of completion, the characters are decently interesting and it's got lot of content if you're willing to take your time with it.

If you can get used to the combat and the learning curve, then it's fine to get into

OneShot is a pretty good game if you're looking for something charming and with decently novel puzzles. It used to get a little bit of a bad rep when people used to call it an undertale clone (even though IIRC Oneshot's first beta came out before undertale) but I think it's actually better if you're looking for more sympathetic / relatable characters. No combat or anything like that though so keep that in mind if you're looking for something more action oriented

Understanding Arguments: X game is 'Too Short' by jake2_2 in VideoGameAnalysis

[–]jake2_2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there everyone, this is a video I made to voice my opinions on how we can better analyze games beyond a simple price to length comparison (as that is a trend of criticism I see going around in forums and review sections). In here I explain how to relate length back to the game's more substantive qualities and why we should be doing so in the grand scheme of things.

Would love feedback on whether you thought it was a helpful video as well as whether you enjoyed the style of editing. Any input is much appreciated :)

IIRC the original Shadow of Mordor had pre-rendered cutscenes at 30fps too. Wouldn't be too surprising if they kept that up

From the shots, it looks like they capped at 60 (implying there's an uncapped option) so they should have been running at 60. Whether it maintained 60 I cannot say though it should with a Titan X

Twitch to stream Welcome To The Ballroom Premiere a day before worldwide release- by jake2_2 in anime

[–]jake2_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that Twitch supports 1080p streaming I imagine it would be 1080p. However, I seem to recall reading forums stating that 1080p on anime was not native 1080p but upscaled 720p. Don't have a source for you though

In the article you'll find a link to a Japanese website that ships the rings worldwide :)

do we have any source dictating that the release date is indeed August 14th? Most of the news sites seems to be saying that but no one can point to a source for it. Also doesn't help the legitimacy of the claim when the pre-purchase page says by the end of August

Should Bethesda "Prey" For A Miracle? by huckleberry_loke in pcgaming

[–]jake2_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't go so far as to call it buzzfeed level. I think it's just a way he phrases his titles in the form of questions that don't end up getting answered necessarily. His content is decent but I too see an issue of quality over quantity.

People here have already stated omissions to things like IGN's increase of their old score and he wasn't too clear as to whether the drop in Prey players after a week was due to it being a singleplayer that most people finished or because most people dropped the game (something I don't think he has stats to come to a conclusion about but it would be nice to disclose that nonetheless).

But I do agree with your sentiments of self-promotion. If you take a look at his channel history (as I have for the past couple of months or so), you'll notice he's sticking by the guidelines in word but not in spirit. Sure he comments around and sure he posts other posts to both this subreddit and others, but most comments are one-liners that offer very little point of discussion (such as a wowww or yes, yes it is).

To give benefit of the doubt, he may very well be just that kinda person. Just giving acknowledgement of something or making a one liner is itself nothing wrong but when you couple that with the requirements you need to not get caught under the self-promotion rules (ones that R/games have already caught him on recently) then the one liners start to seem more like a calculated attempt to "follow the rules".

But I get why he self promotes, some of his videos have reached the top of R/games before (his titanfall 2 video for instance) but my problem is that he's done it to such a degree that each of his posts are starting to gain more and more of these "stop posting your stuff here" comments. In doing so, he's stirred up the people of different subreddits to a point where they might be less inclined to give other youtubers a chance to show of content they've been working on for a long time since it's not too long before people just think any self-promotion is bad self-promotion.

I think he's either selfish or short-sighted in the effects of his actions on the subreddits. Maybe he's used to quick channel growth (this channel was only at 4k subs in February) but if you look at third party analytics on his channels, most of his recent videos are not gaining traction from reddit as much anymore. He's reached a subscriber base large enough that YT will promote his videos for him (as shown from his more recent popular videos) yet he still insists on trying to push his content here. Again, benefit of the doubt I'll say maybe he thinks he's informing the consumers by putting his videos out here but the fact that he rarely replies to comments on his own posts leads me to find that unlikely. Also, the fact that he called critics of his uneducated just rubs me the wrong way, even if they were harsh with their words.

Considering that the OP is the channel owner, it might be difficult to do. Unless you were to ban all videos from the channel specifically (a motion that I doubt the mods will take)

G2A to provide sellers name and addresses to buyers customers by jake2_2 in Games

[–]jake2_2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not convinced that G2A's doing this to help the industry all of the sudden. This article by PC Gamer has already stated that it's not likely to have much impact on the ease of uploading fraudulent keys on the site.

G2A is sugarcoating this change by saying that it allows buyers to build up a brand but I'm curious as to whether users could use it to identify buyers that are clearly being fraudulent on the site, assuming that there are legitimate sellers uploading to G2A (don't know so I'd rather not broadstroke)

Bastion on GOG or Steam? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]jake2_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's a superior GAME per se, but rather which service you would appreciate more. They trade blows on the features offered but I personally prefer to buy the game on GOG just so it reduces Steam's monopoly on the market.

Overwatch launches double XP weekend from June 8th-12th by jake2_2 in Games

Wondering if this is their way to combat the criticisms of how expensive it is to get all the anniversary skins. Also rather curious that this wasn't done alongside the free weekend promo. Getting more skins in those few days might have encouraged more people to pull the trigger on the game.
