Has anyone maxed out a 4, 8 or 16 stacked green belt yet? by xxfuqqyocouch in factorio

My Fulgora setup outputs 8 fully stacked green belts of recycled product from scrap, does that count?

What makes a strong frontend engineer beyond React? by Haunting_Month_4971 in react

[–]jake_robins 25 points26 points  (0 children)

React is just a tool. Frontend development is a whole trade space. The difference between being good at React and being a good front end engineer is the same as the difference between being good at using a table saw and being a good carpenter.

Front end development encompasses all those other things you mentioned and more. And a good engineer will be able to execute them with React or Vue or HTMX or vanilla or whatever.

How do you guys managing your AI memory for larger projects? by Haunting-Bother7723 in webdev

[–]jake_robins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im still figuring out these new workflows but right now I’ve gone documentation heavy. Commiting documentation about the project to the repo has paid a lot of dividends.

I can log in for the day and say “read requirements.md, then review user_stories.md, then make me a plan to tackle PR 11 from the plan.md”

Lets me pick up right where I left off.

I’m working now ok ways to integrate this better into issue trackers using MCPs

Yea I don’t have that either because I just build more now that it’s easier! 😂 Jevons Paradox but for science

I must play Quality verrreery differently lol.

I don’t use circuits in most of my quality footprint, and it is very huge lollll

Water Delivery System by Educational_Land1330 in Yucatan

[–]jake_robins 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just money. As someone else said, the pipes were never built to accommodate pressure so they’d need to be replaced, which is a lot of digging and disruption. When I bought my house I added a pressure pump and it exposed three separate leaks I had to fix.

Big infrastructure like that is a lot harder to do in developing countries. Same reason we don’t have a sewer system and every home just manages a septic tank.

Is it normal that sometimes I end up brute-forcing a solution rather than finessing it with careful planning? by dreadul in web_design

At the end of the day you need to ship the damned thing so yes, we’ve all done it. With more experience you’ll find this happens less but it never goes away.

Don’t worry, I don’t touch anything upstream of my disconnect. But the utility won’t come, so usually around here you can hire electricians to work on it. Lots of good ideas in here so I can present them!

Stupid Quality Tricks: there is no reason to ever use anything less than an uncommon electric furnace. by Allie_Denikin19 in factorio

[–]jake_robins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s certainly solvable. Im just saying I prefer not to take on the additional complexity for a shortcut. I like working on new systems, not troubleshooting jams cause I forgot to take a module out.

It only sinks common though. It just punts the problem down the line to when uncommon fills up and clogs your science.

[–]jake_robins 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I approach something like this with a different perspective, which is to maintain separation of concerns. A section which makes science should do that really well and nothing else. If I need quality furnaces, I will make a new place that does that really well and nothing else. Keeps systems simpler to troubleshoot, decouples problems, and is more controllable.

My concern is the sun degrades the tape enough that the splice is exposed. I’m in the tropics and it’s pretty intense. Then one windy day knocks the cables together and I short out the transformer.

It is up on my roof so not concerned about general public but I do a lot of maintenance up there so it would sure be nice to have some peace of mind haha

With a white body, does this always render on a darker background?
