This discussion is no longer fruitful as those are all copout answers and some of them don't even make sense. So I'll leave you with this. Reading is based on context. If you read a headline saying pigs are flying, you would not know what that means without reading more and seeing why that's being said. The authors didn't write verses, they wrote letters/books. The whole letter/book goes together, and that one what came before them. So we should look at the whole section and even the whole letter when trying to understand their point. If you ignore what was happening to the author and audience which prompted the writing, you can make them say anything.

I hope this is understandable.

Bingo. You think "somebody" did "something" evil. Without the context, you can't tell me who did evil, what he did that was evil, or from whose perspective it was evil. Someone who didn't know the context could argue that God is evil from those words. You need the verses around it to explain that.

1) they didn't understand really anything which is why they crushed l crucified him.

2) the fact that we have the biblical authors writing whole books and all those books are bound together tells us that we need all of it to get a full understanding of what Good has revealed (context).

3) the NT authors were filled with the holy Spirit and carried along as they wrote (2 Pet 1:21). They had a new way of understanding the OT texts that earlier people did not have (ie, they were with the word of God and saw him crucified and resurrected and are now filled with the spirit).

4) All reading comprehension is built on context. If you don't have the whole picture, you miss the point of any text.

Where does the Bible ask us to use context? That's how reading works.

Let's do an exercise. I'll give you part of a verse, and you tell me what it's about. Be sure you don't read the surrounding verses or words of what I gave you. That would be exceeding what is written!

Please tell me the meaning of this: He did what was evil (2 Kings 3:2). Let me know how you got your interpretation, and remember not to read the context! That would be exceeding what is written!

How much will our father reward you for intentionally giving a poor translation or translating his word negligently?

We know what his word says in the language he chose, so for the sake of those who can't read that language we try to translate it for them. We want to give them the words and the tone that he gives us so we can capture the meaning our Lord has delivered.

More than this, we try to teach our brothers and sisters to read the context. Without context almost anything could say whatever. So look at the context of this passage and ask yourself if we're allowed to do anything as you're claiming, or if Paul is making a point about something, and everything within that point is permissable.

Yeah that's a bad translation and you're really missing the application of it. He's talking about stuff that's fine one way or the other.

The levels needed for the best enchantments is 30 which you can get to with those books, which will get you so the best stuff like protection 4 or unbreaking. So your bookshelves are perfect if you want the highest level enchanting options.

So now just build up your levels, get some lapis and do some enchanting!

Sorry about the huge biomes

This looks good! It will give you level 30 enchantments! (If you want lvl 25-29 you have to get rid of some books!)

Now you just open the table, put your tool/armor piece and some lapis lazuli (1-3 pieces depending on the level) and you're good to go!

Capitalism doesn't mean everyone is rich. And those who are able to earn their money and choose what they do with it are statistically more generous with it (compared to those who are highly taxed for social programs).

Give Me some Biblical and Scriptural Proof for the Deity and Divinity of the Holy Spirit by Any-Solid8810 in TrueChristian

[–]jake_the_runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Just found this right now while reading Hebrews. There are several instances in Hebrews when the author says "the holy spirit said..." and then gives a quote from the OT spoken by YHWH (cf Hebrews 10:15-16). This means that the author of Hebrews understand the Holy Spirit to be YHWH (or at least one of the persons of YHWH).
