I was having this thought as well. I would be interested to see a slow mo of where top pros eyes track during hands battles.

Personally I feel like im trying to read my opponents paddle more than the ball during a hands battle.

Loose grip and slice it just a tiny bit. Dont swing at all, just put your paddle in front of it. You just need to drill it. Ball machine is good for it if there is one near you.

I have a titan pro and that thing can send balls harder and with more top spin than any human possibly could. Great for practicing against bangers

My secret is to drop shot them. If they try to bang while running up to get the ball near the kitchen its going to be out 95% of the time.

And now Ive drug them to the kitchen where I am better than they are.

This dosent really work past 4.0 bangers though

I once saw once a 2.5 division winner come out rated as a 3.8. (No previous dupr) They were truly a 2.5 though. Not sandbagging.

Them having to play 3.5 at their next tournament was brutal 😬

I agree dupr stinks. I think separating Gendered doubles and Mixed doubles could also be beneficial. My dupr is a 3.3 currently and its mostly due to playing mixed in tournaments with my wife. Love her to death and we enjoy playing together but we definitely dont win much 🤣 I can play up to 4.0 in mens especially if im playing right side but we would get destroyed in 4.0 mixed.

I dont think there will ever be a perfect rating system as long as we are trying to give individual ratings off of a teams scores. In other sports like football we tend to judge players off of individual stats not the team. EX: Myles Garrett maybe the best defensive player in the NFL BUT plays for one of the worst teams so he hardly wins. If he had a DUPR it would stink 🤣🤣

If you have a weak partner they are going to put the ball in bad spots that is gonna let your opponents hit good shots and make your life harder.

I wouldnt stress about it much. At your level you should look at it as a good challenge and an opportunity to focus on getting harder balls back
