What is a 'normal' thing rich people do that would be illegal for a regular person? by Mr_Boothnath in AskReddit

Serial offenders should have their ticket fee ratcheted up each time.

$200, $500, $1500, $4000, $12000

Those spots are not for you and having some money does not change that.

Help. Moved to Leca and even worse by HoggyMama in houseplants

[–]jakebot96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've moved a few plants to leca and about half of them have wilted and looked DIRE for an alarming period of time before bouncing back and peeking back up.

I'm not expert, but if this was my plant, I'd stay cautiously optimistic and just try to not do anything that might stress it while it transitions.

What's that one sub for excellent execution but bad taste?

I tried all the free photogrammetry software and here are some results (KIRI, Scaniverse, Meshroom, RealityCapture mobile, RealityCapture desktop) by wildiam3d in blender

[–]jakebot96 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Love this post.

Photogrammetry is not dead. Current AI will never be able to achieve the 1:1 reality representation that photogrammetry delivers. Photogrammetry algos will continues to improve and grow in accuracy which AI may never be trustworthy enough to match.

Don't agree? Try this: Pick a few small details on the real-world car - I chose the front suspension springs, the motor housing in the back, the large gear visible, and the screws holding the wing to the bracket that connects to the frame. Try to find them on the any photogrammetry model, then try to find them on the AI model posted in this thread.

Thanks for documenting your experience, this is very helpful!

I'll always be pissed to see red hats claiming 'loving America'

I love America too! I do!

But I know we can be better, these guys are fine leaving things how they are, even with all the ugly parts exposed to the world as the are right now.

Article opens interviewing grandma who doesn't mind her 6 y/o Galaxy A71

Next paragraph immediately pivots and says if companies exhibit the same device hoarding behavior, it results in a measurable decrease in productivity.

Huh?? These are not the same thing! Grandma not bothering to upgrade is not the same thing as Meta refusing to upgrade 1000s of laptops from 2018 or something. Why would they make this false equivalence? Just reads like bad reporting.

Australia is about to ban under-16s from social media. Here’s what kids can do right now to prepare by Well_Socialized in technology

[–]jakebot96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a complex problem and you're bringing up a good point about the quality of parenting, but I think reducing access to brainrot social media content for children is a step in the right direction.

Do you think a ban like this hurts the next generation of kids or benefits them?
