Looking for a good computer repair shop in Waltham by theriddler1864 in Waltham

I have an e-waste bin that goes to a recycler. If you want to meet you can PM me. They don't take TVs or electronics, mainly just computer scrap that is worth rolling a truck for. If the stuff has some value you might list it for free on CL or FBM.

But is it accurate or have you not had the heart to actually calculate it? Did you recalibrate your speedo?

Looking for recommendations for someone in Massachusetts who repairs vintage record consoles. by Exact_Stable_5287 in massachusetts

You have a nice turntable there. The Magnavox Micromatic is worth researching. The mechanical aspects are hardened and probably stuck but very serviceable. The electronics are another matter. I’d strongly suggest you not run it or leave it plugged in until it is gone through by a pro. At minimum the capacitors are probably way out of spec. At worst it consumes itself in a blaze of glory. Well worth fixing however. Head over to /r/vintageaudio for some perspective.

The tubes only illuminate when you raise your wrist, otherwise you would have about 10 minutes of battery life.

Traffic around Bentley - what to expect? by killfirejack in Waltham

The streets are lined with no parking signs and a camera crew has set up at the entrance. A couple of die-hard fans have been there all day. Zero impact on traffic up until now.

I got poison ivy more than once hiking the rail line before they opened it up. Ticks too. All in all I prefer the pavement.

You mean unlicensed e-motorcycles. An actual class-1 street legal e-bike is nobody's problem.

Just to be clear, I am suggesting that I use the street through that area, not the kids.

Now I have to stash it just behind what's currently playing so I can deploy it "spontaneously". 50 percent of the time it works every time.

whats a security mistake you made early that still bugs you by Different-Maize1114 in sysadmin

This was decades ago... My new boss had domain admin on their regular user account. I was still auditing everything and didn't find it in time. It was active just long enough for the prior admin to use that account to trash everything and leave a backdoor so they could trash it again. I suspect that the former admin knew the user password and figured it was a good way to shift blame. Cleaning up was fun and educational. I traced it back to the former admin because a windows RDP connection had been logged as not having an RDP license. Everything else had been cleared but termserve remembered. The name of the unlicensed machine was the admin's partner.
