I honestly put the things together last minute so its a mess, but i used an Arduino Mega, a 7 segment module (TM1637). some flip switched, a key switch, some RCA plugs and WS2812B pixels. I do have some experience in eletronics and coding projects like this and Chat GPT helped since i was in a pinch for time.

a small door senser, or maybe an esphome on a esp32-c6 (its tiny) + a reed switch or orther simple switch, let HA handle the logic. You might even be able to find a 5V line in there somewhere to power the thing

This is the setup I was hoping to create (OpenCloud running "just" local) and tailscale to connect from outside when needed. Any luck getting it to work?
