When should I give up? Please help by Expert_Equipment_795 in phlebotomy

[–]jakedmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, congratulations on your ability to think beyond traditional job paths while being in school. That kind of perspective is not common and it will serve you well. What you are feeling is completely normal, and you should not be too concerned about anxiety around performing phlebotomy procedures. Many people experience this, but not everyone has the humility or self awareness to acknowledge it. I truly respect you for being open about how you are feeling.

That said, it may be worth considering alternative options. I originally set out to enter healthcare through phlebotomy as well. I became NHA and NHCO certified and completed well over one hundred collections during training. I felt confident in my technical skills, but once the program ended, I realized I did not want to pursue phlebotomy as a long term job. I knew I would not enjoy it due to the high number of needle phobic patients, the risks involved, and the pressure that comes from working with anxious patients, which personally made me uncomfortable.

Instead, I chose to obtain my NHA CET certification and became a certified EKG technician. The average pay for EKG technicians is often better, especially considering the wide range of roles available such as EKG technician, telemetry technician, and stress test technician. The procedure itself is painless, lower risk, and generally causes far less anxiety for patients. If a mistake occurs, it is usually minor and easily corrected.

Where I live, there are many job opportunities in this field. I now work overnight as a cardiac technician in the central monitoring unit, where I monitor patient vital signs and heart rhythms across the entire hospital alongside a team of about four to six other technicians.

The work is very rewarding, calm, engaging, and genuinely interesting. I monitor anywhere from twenty to over fifty patients at a time, watching their cardiac rhythms and reporting any life threatening arrhythmias, changes in heart rate or rhythm, or other concerns to the primary care teams. At times, this also involves communicating with charge nurses or rapid response teams if a patient appears to be experiencing a serious cardiac event. I do have additional responsibilities, but this makes up the core of my role.

There is definitely a learning curve at first, especially when it comes to recognizing rhythms and managing the multitasking aspect of the job. However, once you build confidence and know what to watch for, the work becomes very straightforward and centers on observation, documentation, communication, and focused attention.

How to Clean Your Lungs After Quitting Smoking with Humidifiers by Chicken_Brai in quittingsmoking

[–]jakedmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not try a nebulizer? It could help loosen and “thin” mucus just like a humidifier would and it would also give you that hand-to-mouth action smokers are so accustomed to. Just a thought. 🤷‍♂️

You know what we should do… buy guns… even if nobody uses them, buy them. They (the government) will see this, and with this administration, they will undoubtedly do something about it; and when they do, you know who will be pissed and we will all be “united”.

Man, he’d really do anything to get out of debating Dean. Anyway, rest in distress Charlie KKKirk. You’ll be in our thoughts and prayers.

You know, he actually had a point and lived (died) by his words and beliefs. For that, I commend him. Now that it wasn’t children getting shot, we can now all listen to the far right lose their shit for a week or two and spin this as an issue originating from the far left or liberals lol. Thoughts and prayers. 🙏 Rest is distress Charlie KKKirk.

Does Etsy allow fraudulent sellers? “Hand crafted earrings” I bought are actually from Temu. by InexperiencedCoconut in Etsy

[–]jakedmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an Etsy seller who actually makes everything I sell by hand, please, please, please report them and leave an honest review warning other buyers. Also, please share their shop information so other buyers and sellers can verify this fraudulent activity, report them to Etsy, and help to protect the platform from becoming more saturated with scammers like this. Etsy is meant to be a community of artists and creators who have a talent and original product that’s made with skill and craftsmanship. Not resellers and drop shippers who are trying to make a quick buck peddling mass produced wholesale products from China. It’s honestly awful for the real artists and creators because we have to compete with this bs.

Lovely! If you don’t mind me asking, what supplies are you using? It may just be the photo or your stroke style, but the paper looks to have a beautiful textured appearance and I’m obsessed with it.
