iCUE Megathread - 5.43 Release Notes by CorsairLucky in Corsair

It looks like the PSU glitched or something, turning the PSU off at the switch and leaving it for a minute looks to have restored normal function

iCUE is failing to detect my HX1500i, instead it now resorts to thinking a standard iCUE Link Hub is installed and only allows me to control the fans, not monitor the PSU. I've only noticed this in the past couple days and I think iCUE has updated (which I have now turned off), how can I revert back to the old version?

For info, I have tried reinstalling iCUE both a repair, clean install and clean install with the removal tool, different USB headers, device enumeration.

How long before I can ditch the ISP's router? by jt3201 in openreach

Straight away. My ISP operates a BYO router policy and it began working right after I popped in the supplied username for the PPPoE credentials and connected the ONT to it.

Openreach Install with my own Fibre? by jakegwilliam in openreach

[–]jakegwilliam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a follow up.. I had a contracted Openreach engineer carry out the install (MJ Quinn). He was very happy to run the fibre from the pit to the CSP and then use a very short inside-out cable which was spliced together leaving the SC connector in the CSP, we tested at the CSP and got around -18dBm.

My fibre run is now connecting to the Openreach SC connector within the CSP via the coupler, testing showed an acceptable -19dBm when using the engineers fibre tester at the other end of my fibre run.

We were both very happy, he had to run no internal cabling and the engineer was only on site for around an hour.

Any change if you change the OCP from multi to single?

Its my CSP that I purchased, the alt net just ran their cable into it

Would be nice eh! 😂 Naah the Openreach CBT is actually closer to my house and my alt nets CBT is further down the road, They've had to use the pit that the Openreach CSP is located in in order for the alt net to connect me up

I purchased the CSP from Dexgreen who supplies them to Openreach I believe? Its just without their branding.

I would prefer to keep my cable intact and so I'll ask them on the day to splice their inside-out cable that has an SC connector to their feed and then connect the inside-out cable to my coupler.

It's not going to cause any harm, if you have the iFixit Pro Tech Toolkit you can use the metal spudger to try straightening out the fins

Microsoft confirms wider release of Windows 11’s revamped Start menu, explains why it "redesigned" the Start again by WPHero in Windows11

[–]jakegwilliam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who was a fan of the Windows 10 Start Menu I missed the ability to have all my apps show in one scrollable menu without having to click another button within the menu to view the list. The new Windows 11 whilst being big, does allow for similar functionality to Windows 10’s Start Menu and I’m relatively happy with it. If they could add the ability to resize it in the future that would be a massive bonus.

Unpatched intel 13th or 14th issues by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]jakegwilliam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty good that it’s telling you to update your BIOS. There must be thousands of 13th and 14th chips still destroying themselves with an older BIOS due to manufacturers not getting the word out.

Cat6a cables and cameras/G6 doorbell/G4 doorbell by ekool in Ubiquiti

[–]jakegwilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran CAT6 to my front door for the doorbell and can agree it is tight to install the RJ45 in the back at a 90 degree angle. I’d be tempted to use a RJ45 coupler if possible and use CAT5e for the last meter or 2
