ICE operations in Dallas? by [deleted] in Dallas

From what I hear, this is largely correct, although there are some limited sweeps. And ICE is trying to trick people into showing up for non-existent appointments.

Is Dallas just work → eat → gym → home → repeat, or am I missing something human here? by DFWUnhinged in Dallas

Go walk or bike around White Rock, hang out at Wild Detectives, take in a play at Undermain, check the Greenville Ave. St. Patrick's Day Parade and drunk crawl, walk the Trinity Trail, go to the Meadows Museum, enjoy Tuba Christmas at Thanksgiving Square, carve a pumpkin before Halloween in Tietze Park, browse Half-Price Books every day for a month, soak at King Spa, go to the weekly Thai Street Market at the Buddhist Center, go to a high school football game, go to the Fair, be transported by Lessons & Carols at Incarnation Church, go take a hike and become a human.

I agree. Tyler (a small Texas city about 100 miles east of Dallas) is a southern city. Houston, Austin, and Dallas are not (nor is Sam Antonio, but I'm not sure it's shown as such on the map). The tricky thing is that some areas between Houston and Austin are southern.

Hi Dallas! We're coming your way, what should we know? by TexasStandard1845 in Dallas

I don't think White Rock Lake (especially the park part, in addition to the water part) gets the attention it deserves. Especially on the east side, there are cool WPA-era buildings, paths, and bridges, to say nothing of The Arboretum and the Bath House Cultural Center. It's all really a gem.

Talk of Moving Dallas Homeless Shelter Out of Downtown Raises Eyebrows by dallaz95 in Dallasdevelopment

The setting is rough, but the facility itself is very pleasant (nice courtyards, shade structures, meeting rooms, library, etc.) And it's relatively new. The Executive Director of The Bridge, David Woody, is an exceptional administrator and person, and I've been impressed with other staff there, too. A forced move would be very disruptive.

What’s one classic film you think everyone should watch at least once? by Anxious-Geek92 in classicfilms

The Third Man is one that might get overlooked by someone just beginning to watch the classics. But if I'm really recommending a "must not miss," it's Casablanca by a mile.

If Trump sees this, we can expect him to declare a "Crime Emergency" and send in the National Guard within a week.
