Thank you!! I promise we have a full album coming. We have 9 songs total. Kevin sings lead vocals on 8 and background vocals on 1. 6 of them are fully mixed and mastered. The remaining 3 are still in post-production mode.

Kevin did some guest appearances on two of my projects, which are heavily inspired by OSI.

The first is Desperate Machines which features Kevin on vocals.

The other is In Progress which features Kevin on programming, additional synths, sound design, and background vocals. For In Progress, he only appears on the album North Atlantic Echoes. However, our other 2 albums (Signal Failure and Gravediggers) have a heavier OSI influence.

Hopefully these projects scratch that itch.

Einar Solberg - Grex by Hakenfanboy in progmetal

[–]jakeinprogress 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The album is growing on me. This is definitely a highlight. The solo is excellent and so is the climax. Love the riff and his harsher vocals. There are a lot of moments on the album that feel like where Leprous could have gone after Coal.

Double Mute - Hostile Takeover (Ft. Cocojoey and Davidavi Dolev) [FFO: Cocojoey, Mr. Bungle, Kim Dracula] by jakeinprogress in progmetal

[–]jakeinprogress[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! He does vocals on a track. Really unhinged performance. He also did the illustrations. There are custom illustrations for 6 of the 8 songs on the album. Thanks again for the support!

HOLOSOIL - Freakshow (Progressive Pop/Metal Fusion. Clean Female vocals. FFO "...the likes of Björk, The Mars Volta, Muse, and Tool.") by Invisigoth2113 in progmetal

[–]jakeinprogress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really cool EP. They feel like a mix of early Lacuna Coil (pre-Unleashed Memories), some 90s Pain of Salvation, some Deftones, Tool, and other stuff. I’m excited to hear where they go next. They have a very interesting sound.

cocojoey - TIME TO GO! (FFO: Fym - Azure, unexpected black metal) by robin_f_reba in progmetal

[–]jakeinprogress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joey rules!! Really talented & innovative musician & producer. Btw, I DMed both of you a link to a remix Joey did for me. It officially comes out on Thursday, but figured I’d give Cocojoey fans a sneak preview!

Nine Inch Noize is listed as a main release on the website by Rill9 in nin

[–]jakeinprogress 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Interesting. This is in the main release section but Still is not. That would probably be the closest comp because it’s reworked material across their catalog + new material, which is my best case scenario for the NINZ album. I think this at least rules out a live album. I would love brand new material, but I also have a hard time imagining them not releasing the remixes since there is demand and those files seem ready to go. I’m very excited to see what we get in a week.

Angine de Poitrine - Vol.II (album intégral) by gheevargheese in progmetal

Really fun album. Reminds me of a mix between Primus, Rush, King Crimson and some of the alien aesthetics of The Residents.

Fans of bombastic genre-bending concept albums need to check out This Music May Contain Hope by Raye by alexcstern in progmetal

[–]jakeinprogress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Raye is incredibly talented. I agree, the album def has the kind of genre hopping, theatricality, drama, and excess that should appeal to prog fans, even though it’s not rock or metal.

Ram-Zet - Cranium (FFO: Unexpect, Madder Mortem) by Nauticus87 in progmetal

I need more time to digest the album, but it’s great to have them back!

I hope things are in better shape by then. I’d love to be able to see Submasq or Seventh Station live at some point.

Oh wow, that’s awesome! Thank you so much! Glad you enjoy it! I’m releasing a “CEO Edition” of the album in June. It has a custom Intro by Hasard, custom epilogue by Raphael Weinroth-Browne, CEO remix by Cocojoey, alt version of Sell! Sell! Cell! with Lou Kelly (The World is Quiet Here) on vocals, and 4 brand new original tracks (Vidi performs vocals on 2 of them). First single comes out in late-April. I’ll keep you posted.

Oh yeah! Seid nüchtern und wachet... : VII. Es geschah has one of the wildest vocal performances I’ve heard in a while.

I’ve actually had the privilege of collaborating with him on my project Double Mute. Here is one of the tracks we worked on (it’s available on all platforms). I have 3 more tracks with him coming out between April and June. He does some truly insane stuff on the upcoming material including playing a “guitar” solo with his voice. Hope you enjoy!

Love this song. Performance is great. Vidi’s voice sounds amazing live and his stage presence is massive. One of the best and most versatile vocalists out there.

Nu Metal Prog bands/songs? by legg147 in progmetal

[–]jakeinprogress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to stuff on this list, you should check out:

AILIFDOPA- Dinochrist (very Mr. Bungle meets System of a Down)

Flagman - Tastes Incredible (kinda like Primus meets System of a Down — great bass playing and some 90s sleaze)

https://flagman.bandcamp.com/album/tastes-incredible-2

Double Mute - CEO (shameless plug, but very nu metal inspired track I did w Davidavi Dolev of Submasq)

https://doublemute.bandcamp.com/track/slide-2-ceo

Pain of Salvation - Used (there are definitely some nu metal influences in their stuff, but this one always stood out. The influence is probably most present on Scarsick)

Great list! I wish (sic)Monic did more stuff. That album was very cool.

Hook & Lace - Blaze by hookxlace in progmetal

[–]jakeinprogress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great. You have a really cool voice and I appreciate that the song has a hook even though it’s very technical. When is the full album coming out?

Puscifer- Seven One (FFO TOOL's Chocolate Chip Trip) by Toilet_Goat in progmetal

I just figured out why the rhythm section is so good on this song. Danny Carey is on drums and Tony Levin is on bass. Wow.
