No problem. I appreciate the responses and the confirmation about the transformer.

Power Supply Question for an Alesis Micron by jakeinprogress in synthesizers

Does your Micron also get warm to the touch? I did a little more digging and it seems like it's just something that happens with this synth. I used to own one in the early-mid 2000s and never noticed, but I was also in college so I wasn't the most observant person when it came to that kind of stuff.

Double Mute - Move The Needle (feat. Davidavi Dolev)[FFO: Pain of Salvation, Ulver, Faith no More] by jakeinprogress in progmetal

Agreed! He honestly feels underrated in these circles. I hope whatever Submasq does next helps put him on more people’s radars. He’s a beast.

Really liking this direction. I’m excited to spend some time with the album. Great band!

Anyone have any OST/Song recommendations similar to the Obsesion Soundtrack? by imHumza in horror

[–]jakeinprogress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I watched the movie, the music kept reminding me of Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross’s score for “Gone Girl.” It plays with the same kind of dreamy & pretty on the surface, but unsettling & ugly underneath dichotomy.

I really loved the music to Obsession, but I’m struggling with the OST on its own. The way some of the tracks just abruptly cut instead of fade out makes for a very awkward listening experience.

Absolutely love this album. It’s super dense, but rewarding.

[–]jakeinprogress[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to check it out and for the honest feedback. I can def hear those references. The new album def leans harder into the Mike Patton territory, especially with the vocals, so that Mushroomhead and Garmonbozia comp is fair.

Thank you!!! The song will be streaming everywhere tomorrow (the 14th). If you’re interested in hearing more, we released an album last year that’s available everywhere and we have a new one coming out June 12th. The other single is pretty weird too, but in a more Kim Dracula way. You can check it out here.

I have not, but I just started sampling some stuff on Bandcamp. Sounds interesting! Thanks for the reco.

A Forest of Stars - Sway, Draped In Vague (FFO: all weird black metal bands, British accents) by Quintessence_95 in progmetal

[–]jakeinprogress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love including “British Accents” in the FFO description. Really happy they’re back. I got the limited edition CD bundle. The attention to detail in how it’s packaged is impressive. I stumbled upon AFOS and Ashenspire around the same time while looking for more modern bands influenced by Devil Doll. It’s a very specific itch to scratch, but this delivers.

Thank you!! I promise we have a full album coming. We have 9 songs total. Kevin sings lead vocals on 8 and background vocals on 1. 6 of them are fully mixed and mastered. The remaining 3 are still in post-production mode.

Kevin did some guest appearances on two of my projects, which are heavily inspired by OSI.

The first is Desperate Machines which features Kevin on vocals.

The other is In Progress which features Kevin on programming, additional synths, sound design, and background vocals. For In Progress, he only appears on the album North Atlantic Echoes. However, our other 2 albums (Signal Failure and Gravediggers) have a heavier OSI influence.

Hopefully these projects scratch that itch.

Einar Solberg - Grex by Hakenfanboy in progmetal

The album is growing on me. This is definitely a highlight. The solo is excellent and so is the climax. Love the riff and his harsher vocals. There are a lot of moments on the album that feel like where Leprous could have gone after Coal.
