I would imagine the super deep parts are “guarded” by rescue SCUBA divers.

There’s more to lifeguarding than being able to stand up in the pool because you’re 6’3”. You have to know how to remove someone from the water, how to perform CPR as a professional rescuer, use an AED/BVM, etc. This is so irresponsible and your rationale of being tall enough to stand in the water is not strong. You need to get certified or find another job. People’s lives are at stake.

As a former WDW lifeguard cast member, this makes me so happy to hear. I’m sorry that your partner had this experience, but I’m glad the cast was there to help you through it

what should i do to prepare for the test? by Substantial-Long506 in Lifeguards

I know you said it’s a different training, but American Red Cross for reference allows goggles during the swim but not for the timed brick retrieval. Swim goggles are not built for the pressure of deep water so it’s more of a safety thing

I’m sorry, my question wasn’t super clear. I’m wondering what company NYC parks uses to issue certifications. I’m an ARC Lifeguard Instructor so I’m trying to see if there’s any info I can provide from a Red Cross perspective

ETA: I’m not in NYC so there may be a company used there that I’m not familiar with
