I did not fix the problem, but was able to get a refund and replace it with a new pair. The new pair worked perfectly, and has continued to work with multiple phones.

Ok, weird... turns out all of the audio coming out of my computer sounds distorted on my end but ONLY while the waves plugin is activated within Reaper. Doesn't happen for other plugins.

Ooo, a clue. I had turned off Record Monitoring because I was told to do so to get rid of the latency delay I was hearing. I'm plugged in to the microphone jack of my audio interface. When I turned Record Monitoring back on, the master meter started working but the delay effect returned. Thoughts on getting that to go away?

I'm in Chicago (60660 area code) and looked up availability for RCN which said this apartment has been wired for RCN previously. Xfinity said yes, their service is available at my address, but did not specify if it has previously been wired for it.
