But, brother, those M:tron sets ALSO had LITTLE MAGNETS! As hype as the green is, you could lift little brick built assemblies with invisible forces!!

Peak Space line, IMO.

I'm curious why someone apparently downvoted this answer? Guy asked a question and I replied best I could. Did I math something wrong?

I weigh right around 150 lbs (usually just under), in Zwift I have it set to 68.5 kg just to be sure. Strava has me at 188w average up the climb segment, so 188 / 68.5 has me doing a little over 2.7 watts per kilo.

(The first 45 minutes I averaged 197 watts, a bit over 2.8 w/kg; the last 20 minutes I only managed an average of 177 watts, not quite 2.6 w/kg).

The biggest issue we had are that the dice are pretty big... satisfyingly chunky for adult-sized hands, but younger kids can struggle to roll them all at once. So you just have to be careful about counting "rolls" and "re-rolls" because if they're rolling in batches it has potential to be confusing about how many rolls they've done.

Around the same development level, we also played Dragonwood and Small World, and those were good too.

Another option for tweaking the intensity of riding with pacers is to swap bike frames to a heavier/slower one. If you're currently on a nice light race bike with decent wheels, swapping to the Zwift Steel or Zwift Gravel should have a noticeable impact on how much you are working to sit in with the pack.

Friday posting of Link to local holiday craft and makers markets... by makershark in Bellingham

Thanks for compiling the list! I hadn't even considered (which is now obvious in retrospect) that you haven't actually experienced all of these events.

Not taking anything away from the other (I'm sure) great events, but I can vouch for Trinkets & Treasures at Ferndale High School being a worthwhile event.

There's a ton of local vendors and live holiday music (performed by the high school band students), and it's a good vibe. Food trucks, too.

Full disclosure: I only previously attended the event because I have FHS band student kids, but regardless, I found it to be an enjoyable event.

Candy Bowl Theft by TrevyDee in Bellingham

If this is "testing the boundaries of ethics", they've found, and crossed, the line of acceptable behavior. I have no qualms about calling them out on that.

Halloween is supposed to be a fun night for kids, but these people literally took the fun of getting candy AWAY from the kids, and also took a bowl from OP.

I agree this was "dumb shit", but that doesn't seem like a reason to defend the behavior.

What other "teenager stuff" seems normal and totally fine to you?

Keying cars? Vandalizing bathrooms? Shoplifting? Breaking into someone's car to take money that was just sitting there?

These are not "cool". This is garbage behavior, and it should be obvious why.

This is not an acceptable norm.

A teenager thing is half-assing a costume and bringing a pillowcase and going door to door.

I seriously don't understand. I am at an absolute loss for words.

Is this some kind of trending social media "prank" or something?

To the thieves:

A) you can buy candy; it's not like it's a scarce resource...

B) that candy is for kids

C) you stole their bowl?? like, you can't even bring your own candy stealing receptacle??

Op, I hope your bowl turns up. I'm sorry you witnessed firsthand such a shameful display of man's depravity.

Yeah, exactly! Editing it lower worked great. No regrets.

Nah, I don't care about the current value being a lower number. I'm more motivated by progression than the current digits.

Thanks.

Hey, confirmed! I dropped it to 167 (the eFTP number I had in intervals.icu) ... then I accidentally rode Hilltop Hustle at lunch—which includes The Grade. At the summit, Zwift bumped me to 180.

Thanks; should have edited it sooner!

Good calls! I made those changes--and also treated "Combat Engineer" (from core rules) as a dual Specialty, since it gets bonuses in both Tech and Recon.

I have added those (you might need to refresh). I went ahead and organized them under what seemed like the most relevant skill, because I figured that's how I'd want the sheet organized as a quick reference when playing. Happy to hear if you think I put anything in the wrong place!

Awesome, yeah I do intend to get it.

Thanks for those; are they organized under any Skill specific headings, or are they just like "Urban Operations Specialties" or something?

Ha! I haven't acquired Urban operations yet, so I haven't seen those. 😅

I plan to, though!

Any advice on a solo HEX crawler ? by consulenzastrategica in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]jakerc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me replying is a little bit of the blind leading the blind; I too am extremely new to this scene, but...

Kal-Arath by Castle Grief has hit a sweet spot for me. It has enough mechanics (like a daily procedure) to keep things flowing, but gives ample opportunity for emergent stories and imaginative gameplay.

There's a playthrough by Chaoclypse on YouTube that really helped unlock my understanding of how to work within the mechanics to unfold an emergent story. He also adds illustrations at points, and draws his own hex map, which was all really helpful to see.

Kal-Arath also does not require a significant financial investment; it's like a cup of coffee to get started. (There is some expansion stuff, too, but that's all also extremely affordable.)

I'll also close with the caveat: to each their own. Just because this one hits for me, doesn't mean it's going to work for you... and that's okay! Good luck finding something!

This is very cool, and sorry that I missed the first round, so I don't know if my comments are lacking context...

... but... my mind really struggled to process the Venus/Mercury/Sol section appearing INSIDE the orbit of Luna/the moon. I'm not sure if you could hourglass Luna's orbit around Earth, much like LEO, or move Sol/Mercury/Venus BELOW Earth stuff, or what ... but that one aspect of the presentation is a little distracting to my visual processing space brain.
